Which is the best in Brussels? There’s plenty of overpriced, dry, bloated burgers in the city and you’ll may fibnd those “OK”. But the unmatchable , for me, is Bintje.
Bintje is without a doubt the most popular smash burger joint in the city and my personal favourite. Incredibly popular on social media for good reason, they pump out fantastic smash burgers.
Their burgers are the definition of the ‘whole is more than the sum of its parts’. Yes, it’s a real smash burger – their patties are smashed really, really thin. You’ll see the epic, crispy edges barely holding together.
What sets their frites apart from most friteries in Brussels is the consistent quality. They use carefully selected potatoes, and each portion is freshly prepared to order (you can really taste the difference. And if you’re in the mood for something heartier, don’t miss their famous mitraillettes ) a proper treat for any street food lover.
For me, it’s textually perfect. But not just the burger, the place and the experience.
But for me, it’s not just about the food. It’s the whole place.
I have ADHD, and feeling comfortable (meaning practical, simple, low-stress) matters a lot to me. Bintje offers exactly that. I go almost every week with my dog. I avoid the rush hours, and every single time, the team is not only kind to me but genuinely sweet to my dog, which honestly makes my day.
A great burger is one thing. A place that makes you feel welcome and nails the food every time?...
Read moreI have always thought hamburgers to be an American thing. Belgians love them some burgers too. We stumbled upon Bintje while looking for a place open on a Sunday afternoon. Serendipity took us to this excellent place. Nothing fancy. Three burgers to choose from makes it incredibly simple to order. Each of us ordered a different one and all three absolute rocked!!!! Smashburger and Five Guys should be sending their crews to Bintje for training because they could learn a lot. The burger was made from excellent quality meat, grilled until all that nasty pink was gone but it was still juicy and tender. Brioche roll, fresh stuff on there, so tremendous!!!! We had some great fries on the side. I really loved the black pepper sauce. Make sure to have a beer on tap too. All around stellar meal. The price was very reasonable also. The staff were really helpful and...
Read moreGood hamburger place with evidence on display of making the fries from scratch. The burger was certainly tasty, too. The drink selection felt slightly over-priced for small quantities of simple juice and otherwise relatively limited. The atmosphere is good, but unfortunately over-powered by a large screen, never recommended when eating out if you ask me, even as informal as Bintje. Somewhat bemusing that in a place called Bintje not a word of Dutch/Flemish seems to be uttered. For the price of the fries, the portions could be more generous or a large option would be welcome. All in all, prices are on the high side when you realise that fries have to be added to your burger. Really there should be an advantageous...
