Brasserie de l'Union — Restaurant in Saint-Gilles - Sint-Gillis

They have a great and big terrace, which is full of glasses. I guess they are a bit understaffed because you need patience and to be okay with glasses and plates all around you. When you get served, you are greeted by a lovely man who is kind and helps you out. After 3pm you can only eat spaghettis or lasagnas. The lasagnas are fine, both veggie and meat version. They are surely not going to win awards with the plating or the taste but they were not tasteless at all. The sauce was meaty and just about warm enough. The pasta was well cooked and well spread. The meal was good as a sort of snack or light meal but that’s about it. Its not fine dining but you also don’t expect that from this place.

For paying, you can only use cash or the Payconiq app. Because God forbid they could buy themselves a SumUp terminal or something of this sort.

I still give a four star because the experience wasn’t bad. Just little remarks that would make it better and improve the overall visits even more. Or just make it easier. One last things, the staff, or lack of, is friendly and helpful and made the visit...

Me and my husband were accused of not paying for a 3,50 beer. The waitress did not give us the payment ticket for the second beer we had, accusing us when we were leaving of not paying for it. When we tried to ask the owner of the place for cameras or another way to prove that we in fact had payed, so we could cope with our honors, we were mistreated again by him. Excellent price-quality for the budget conscious local or traveler, a spacious terrace, a large assortiment of beers from tap or bottle. The daily menu specials are also interesting and at very affordable prices ranging between € 13 and € 20.
