Ordered a grilled fish with garlic potatoes and garlic bread. I asked and specified for a garlic sauce on the fish. Everything except the garlic bread came out covered with this cheap and nasty seasoning, resting on a bed of an oily substance. Nothing tasted garlic in this plate except a light flavor of garlic on the bread, the rest of the items on the plate had this strong cheap msg flavoured seasoning. I had to return my plate as I was unable to ingest the meal, the seasoning was overpowering all the flavours. Afters speaking with the manager, she told me that apparently that is how they do the fish in this establishement, generousely sprinkled with seasoning. One of the waitresses came back and offered to make me another fish without the seasoning. Knowing ahead of this way of cooking i would pass this place. In my humble opinion,a grilled fish(on charcoal right in front of the restaurant) does absolutely not require any sort of seasoning, other than salt maybe. Drinks are ok, nothing too crazy, average pre-mixed flavours. Second fish came out without seasoning as promised by the waitress, however it could have been grilled a little longer, same for the previous fish, too soft on the inside not crispy enough on the outside .As per the potatoes, they are just like some simple roadside diner breakfast pan grilled breakfast potatoes pieces. In my opinion, the meal is way overpriced for the quality of...

Abhorrent & Disgusting,

The fake flower arrangements on the table are an affront to the very culture they poorly pretend to represent. Especially since its on a Caribbean island and there are fresh flowers everywhere on the island.

My wife ordered the snapper. What she received was closer to cured/salted fish that had not been properly prepped. It was insanely salty and inedible. The “Jalapeño Margarita” is pure margarita mix, zero booze. Plus when we asked, the bartender didn’t know that margarita's are made with tequila!!!!!!! The “Salad” is a mushy, wilted mess, not sure why it’s even a menu item. Then my "Fresh Caught" lion fish arrived which had clearly turned and was rancid. It literally smelled like vomit. They staff insisted that we didn't know what we were talking about and proceeded to act like children and refused to make eye contact after being busted pushing disgusting food.

The takeaway: Roy’s place only adds to the overall observation that most Belizeans think outsiders have no clue, about food, basic life skills or anything for that matter. The “hustlers” here will try their best to pull the wool over your eyes in the most elementary ways. Seriously, it's like being hustled my an 8 year old. It would be endearing except for the fact that they are adamant in their...

Don't waste your time or get fooled by the Taco Express signs outside the restaurant!

Stopped in because there were signs outside that advertise/say Taco Express. Sat down and were told they were not serving tacos. We asked when they would be serving tacos and the owner said "tomorrow, come after 5pm." We had a drink and left. Came back the next day, after 5pm, and had to ask for the taco menu. Server did not seem happy that we asked for a taco menu instead of the more expensive menu. Placed our order and took over 1 hour to get semi cold tacos and crunch wraps (when we sat down and ordered the restaurant was not busy.) Tacos were mediocre at best, crunch wraps were much better than the tacos. We also witnessed the owner basically talling a patron he needed him to leave so he could push 2 tables together and seat a group of 6. This patron had just finished eating and still had half of their drink left. Also, witnessed another table being told they could not sit at a table for 4 because there were only 2 guests. Was extremely disappointed in the food, service and...

Hi, I'm CiCi and I'm an expat from the states. I'm a big foodie, from NYC, living in Miami and Los Angeles. I'm pretty particular about my food. Being a vegetarian also I need to be mindful about where I eat. This is one of my favorite spots on the island. For the food, like most things on the island takes a while, but that is a great thing because everything is made fresh to order. The bar serves good strong drinks and ice ice cold beers and sodas. The spot is split into two, the restaurant side and the Taco bar side with a bar in the middle. The Taco bar has pool, and cool seating. The restaurant side is nice. Great for small groups and couples dinners. Locals and tourists alike like it. They have in my opinion the best veggie tacos in the Island hands down. They are open late is the best part.

Roy’s Blue Water Grill is definitely worth a visit in Caye Caulker. The food is very good and flavorful, and what really stands out compared to many other restaurants on the island is the extensive menu—you’ll find plenty of options to choose from. The fresh seafood display set up right out on the street is also a really cool touch and adds to the experience. In the evenings, the place gets lively with a fun atmosphere, so it’s a nice spot to enjoy dinner and people-watch. Like most places on the island, service isn’t quite what you might expect from a more touristy destination, but that’s more of a Caye Caulker thing than something specific to Roy’s. Overall, tasty food, a great menu, and a unique vibe make it a solid choice while on the island.

We didn‘t read the reviews before we went for Dinner here: and we were so happy for our dinner decision!! We had a snapper (you can decide which price range) and veggie-fajitas & tons of local drinks with alcohol (only 8 belize dollars each!) !! The food was served very quickly compared to other places on the island and the stuff was super friendly and aware of our needs. The food was super delicious and we were both more than happy about our choices. As a vegetarian it‘s not that easy to find something different than curry on this island so I was very happy to have various options here! We will definately come back here in the next days !! Big recommendation! Also: the Song Choices were amazing and the atmosphere was great!
