In a city full of some of the very best restaurants in the world I consider my very favorite in São Paulo the World Cafe Bar.
There are a lot of reasons why, but here are my top three, in no particular order:
One. It is a warm and welcoming place. The staff is always attentive and helpful. No problems if you’re struggling with your Portuguese. Staff is speaks english and other languages… should also mention that it fills the range of dress up dress down, dining with friends, a date, or just alone.
Two. Options are varied and wonderful from top to bottom. You can point your finger at the menu without looking and whatever you choose will be a winner. I had the Caesar’s salad last week… two thumbs up.
Three. The Oliveira family. For his part, Raimundo is famous… but you would never know it. He is consistently there welcoming visitors, but in a warm and humble manner… which is how I would describe the whole family, actually—his wife (who I think really runs the place) and his son, who speaks multiple languages and has great travel stories as well. It is a well established and reputable establishment run by smart, kind, sincere family members.
On a nostalgic note World Cafe Bar was the first place that I dined solo in São Paulo… and in the five years since, it only gets better and better.
Thank you to the Oliveira family for keeping me well fed during the four seasons, and for being a consistently welcoming haven in this...
Read moreWhen I visit Sao Paulo I always make time to visiting Raymondo's place for coffee, a meal or drinks at night. While the food at his restaurant is so delicious, its Raymondo's attention to detail and the atmosphere he creates which sets the place apart. The service is world class, super friendly and polite. All the staff make you feel very welcome and have time for you if you want to chat. I cannot remember a place where the owner/chef visits very guest to chat and make sure they are satisfied. I leave feeling I just visited a friends home. Im always pushing him to expand his Casa to include Raymondo's pizzeria, Raymondo deli (selling foodie items) and Raymondo jazz etc 😂. Watch his space. The food is delicious and the prices are good. I keep going back. The last lunch with a friend we ordered : Aubergine Parmesan - generous and full of flavour Filet mignon with mustard sauce- Steak was perfectly cooked and very soft. Perfection!

The restaurant was playing chill music which added to the calming atmosphere. Staff spoke english too, which of course was helpful. I came back for dessert later in the day, and had the chocolate mousse pie which absolutely blew my mind. Highly recommend a visit if you are...
