Imagine dining in a tranquil garden tucked away from the hustle—a cozy house with both indoor charm and a leafy terrace, where the vibe is polished yet undeniably personal. Aubergine feels like home, but infused with intentional creativity and care.
The menu is thoughtfully compact, spotlighting Bulgarian soul food, Mediterranean flair, and imaginative twists on classics. Every dish I tasted—from the aubergine bruschetta with cow’s cheese and caramelized walnuts to the rich, tender pork ribs—was unmistakably elevated comfort food done right. Portions are generous, quality ingredients shine, and there’s a clear dedication to thoughtful presentation that never outshines the flavor.
What truly sets Aubergine apart is its pairing of each plate with Bulgarian craft beer—one of the only places doing this with focus and finesse in Sofia. There’s a sense that food and drink were designed to complement each other, creating a balanced, memorable meal.
The team offers warm hospitality: welcoming, professional, and genuinely invested without fuss. From menu guidance to service rhythm, everything felt seamless. had only one meal left in Sofia, it would be here. Aubergine hits...

The atmosphere The restaurant itselt is really nicely decirated, nothing too much. You can easily spot that someone have tought of those small details which will make your stay pleasent.
The staff We got the nicest and calmest waitress we have met the last 2 years. She readily explained everything we have asked about the dishes, even proposed a substitute for one of the ingredients that I'm intolerant to without the usual comments or making you feel bad attitude.
The food. We got chicken with green salad with special sauce and home made bread. Everything was delicious and you can tell that whoever is in the kitchen knows what and how to do, because the substitute that they proposed was seemingly blended in the dish.
Overal I'm really happy with...

The staff were super helpful and kind and true to its name, there are loads of dishes with aubergine / eggplant on the menu. You will also want to try their local wine (or beer). I finished my meal with a shot of rakia to keep me warm when I walked back to my hotel. From the dishes I ordered, I could tell a lot of thought was added to the flavors and the place was a perfect pick of flavors for me. The interiors of this old house turned restaurant are warm and modern. There is garden (patio) seating as well. I also appreciated that there was no smoking inside. I was a tad under dressed with my walking shoes and thermal layers, but arriving early, I wasn't too concerned. Dress that balances the atmosphere might be...
