Food nothing special and expensive. Staffs are unfriendly. But the worst is they are SUPER SLOW. I know restaurants in Sofia are slow but this one is extremely terrible slow. Avoid it if you don't want to lose your time waiting there for expensive foods and bad experience.

We were 2 and we reserved table for Saturday 14/12/2019 at 20:30. We ordered beef tripe with butter and lamb George's way. I wanted to point to the menu to make sure they know what I want but the waitress (the waitress with black glasses) says ok without looking or noting down like she already understand.

After a younger waitress bring us bread and water, it takes one hour - ONE HOUR - just to come and tell me, we have no beef tongue. I said, I wanted beef tripe. So that one hour they didn't even start to look at the order to start to look if they have the ingredients. This is totally unacceptable. They talked and looked at us but not even came and said sorry or anything just said the plate will come fast.

The table next to us with 5 people ordered some salads and it takes them almost 1 hour to bring too. And another table with 3 people ordered at the same time with us, they also had their foods after 1 hour and a half. There were 2 people wanted to leave because it took too long but they said the food is coming now so they backed to the table unhappily. We keep waiting because in weekend if you don't book table before it's hard to find good restaurant. After half of hour, when we lost patience and we almost left, they came and said the food is coming the food is coming.

Finally we saw the foods for real after more than 1,5 hours in total. The food is normal and so few for the price. We ate fast and left very uncomfortably. You totally can go to another Bulgarian restaurants with good foods and cheaper price that don't keep you there...

If you by any chance visit Sofia capital of Bulgaria and you like to try ethnic/local food

then this is the right place for you

hidden in the small ally 10 - 15 minutes from the centre of Sofia is the amazing group of people in the most amazing house.

if you are looking for a fancy restaurant, large plates with small portions, stylish interior and marble floor with chandeliers, then stop reading this review, this is not for you, thx by:-)

Like I wrote "amazing house" not restaurant!!!!

when you enter thru the main gate and see simple concrete and stone teras you have no clue,

you step inside the house true an old main door into the small hallway, there you get a first and most important question: "are you hungry?" we reacted like: yes we are, but not that much :-) the boss Nelly reacted back: if you not hungry, you can go, with the biggest smile on her face, we knew we were at the right place.

inside filing of the house is like you are in the past in some village house that stayed trapped in time and in perfect condition.

we got welcoming bread with salt, bread was amazing,

we order drinks, start choosing our meals from the menu, which was very well written, very explained and fun, what we didn't understand, we asked waitress Sofia and waiter Azi ( i forgot his full name, sorry) they helped us to understand what was in the meals.

when the food was on the table, all we did, was aaaa and ummumm, jami ...............

amazing meal, amazing people, amazing ambient, we will definitely visit this place again and again

message to the boss: keep everything as it is don't change a thing this what you have is MAGIJA - magic, don't lose this!

thx for having us as guests!

Affordable - amazing -...

If I could award minus stars I would.

After reading the excellent reviews this restaurant has, I headed eagerly to the restaurant for an evening of tradition Bulgarian food to round off my trip.

How mistaken could I possibly be, after all this restaurant has excellent reviews!!!!

Well my beer when it arrived was thick glupy and absolutely revolting, the "crispy" cheese bites, we're intact not "crispy but soft and soggy, the cheese inside hadn't even melted!

My Bulgarian sausage selection would surely make things better but no, what a terrible mistake I had made, 2 of my sausages were literally oozing grease and were so salty they were inedible.

How on earth any professional chef was prepared to send food out like that I shall never know.

To make matters even worse, a waiter seated a family with 3 small and literally screaming children on a table diagonally next to me, I fully accept that families are as entitled as anyone else to use restaurants and on the whole I think it great for families to go out and eat together, however; I draw a very firm line when one child is standing on a dining chair another has her feet on the dining table!

I would if I had known not bothered at all with this restaurant, I would have received far better food and service had I have eaten in the McDonald's or KFC round the corner.

I would have been embarrassed to serve the food that left their kitchen tonight to a dog.

Disgusted doesn't begin to cover it.

To round the experience off the waiter had the cheek to ask...

I was looking for a place to try traditional Bulgarian food, and this restaurant came up as one of the most recommended options. It is located in a restored old house, decorated with folk details and a pleasant garden area that feels quiet and relaxed. They also provide an English menu, which is very helpful. The complimentary bread was soft and fluffy, served with sharena sol (a traditional Bulgarian spice mix of salt, paprika, and herbs). The waiter kindly explained what it was and even showed me how to find it in local supermarkets, which added a personal touch. For lunch, I had the Thracian salad with yogurt and cucumbers, followed by the Beef Chomlek: a generous stew with tender beef, carrots, and potatoes, very well prepared and comforting. I paired it with a Draft Glarus unfiltered ale, which balanced the meal nicely. Prices felt fair considering the quality and generous portions. Overall, if you are visiting Sofia and want to experience a restaurant strongly focused on traditional Bulgarian recipes, this is a very good choice.
