The vegetarian food here was delicious and well-priced. Look for the place that has Surn Yi Vegetatian written outside. I recommend the mushroom curry and baguette, which is just $1.50. It was a fragrant curry packed with aubergine, carrot, potato and tasty mushrooms, served with a large warm baguette. That was probably enough to fill me up, but I was greedy and excited by the quite low prices and ordered a few sides which were also cheap, e.g boiled vegetables for 50 cents. My girlfriend had the tom yam soup, which tasted great and was likewise packed full of ingredients, in this case fake meat, noodles and vegetables. I would have taken pictures of the menu but it includes hundreds of items, from Asian food through to pizzas and burgers, which were only $1.50. Not much in the way of service here as you just write numbers down on a slip, hand it in and pay before you get your food. Once we were done we got one of the cakes from the stand outside each, and I can recommend doing the same! They were sort of a small, warm fluffy pancake-like cake with a filling inside, and...
Read moreRestaurant food for street food prices. Everything is atleast veggie, and everything can be made vegan upon request.
You order by writing the menu item numbers on a little form and handing it to the cashier (or the owner will take it from your table). So no language barrier issues, no confusion about orders, great for anyone feeling unsociable.
The food is tasty and after trialing one dish, I was back up again and again for a second and a third, before having to call it a night before I got a fourth, saving that for another day.
I ordered the Pepper V-Meat and V-Shrimp noodles, the V-Drumstick noodles, and Bean Curd noodles. And today I've ordered a Vegan Steak noodle.
Definitely coming back again on my return to try the Hot Pot and the Burgers!
All were great, and all were $2-$3, which you are better than the prices I've had from the places with little plastic tables on the pavement.
Free WiFi and a fan above every table too. Highly recommend. You can even scan the QR code in my photos from the menu to see the whole thing...
Read moreVery good food and friendly service. The menu can be a little overwhelming as its quite large and you'll have to use your imagination for many items.
Ordered a mushroom hamburger which was a thin fried mushroom patty atop a fried egg (and the other usual burger stuff (lettuce, ...)). It came with a black iced tea with condensed milk which was quite good. It was very tasty. $1.25.
Since your waiter/waitress might not speak great english, they won't try to up-sell you, but if you're looking for a full meal, I strongly suggest you order a couple items (like burger + soup, or noodles of vegetables)..again, plenty of options and most are in the...
