Pasta Fresca — Restaurant in Khan Daun Penh

My wife and I found this Italian restaurant on HappyCow while searching for vegan options in Phnom Penh. We love Italian food so we had to visit! The owner (we forgot to ask your name, so sorry!) was so incredible welcoming and sweet. She immediately explained the menu and told her recommendations, which we followed. We had the vegan tortelloni with spinach and ricotta with the mixed veg. sauce and the vegan green gnocci with tempe bolognaise sauce. Let me tell you, IT WAS SOOO GOOD! We’ve been backpacking through South-East Asia for 2 months and we were craving some good Italian food. Well, it did not disappoint! Fun extra detail: the tables have photography books from the owners’ friend and you can leave comments about the pictures in the books. So fun! And the photography is a-ma-zing! This pasta place is so lovely!

We came across this place after a couple of searches for best pasta in the area and we weren’t disappointed.

There was plenty of vegetarian options, would really recommend the tomato & cream tagliatelle and the vegan bolognaise too! My dad was a big fan of the lasagne which came fresh out the oven a couple of minutes before we arrived. Really enjoyed the crunchy / super tasty bread that was provided just before the pasta came out from the local bakery.

Drinks options were great, chianti red wine was a personal favourite.

The owner was lovely and kept us entertained throughout the night with snippet stories which we really enjoyed, incredibly personable. The music is also spot on.

The restaurant really felt like we were dining in a friends house in Italy, authentic freshly made home cooked pasta!

While on vacation visiting family in Cambodia we had three dishes and drinks. My brother-in-law has a home just three homes from Pasta Fresca. We have tried other Italian Restaruants in Phnom Penh, and the are ok but some of their dishes flavors are lacking in traditional flavor. Pasta Fresca, my opinion, is home cooking like my Dad would put on the Sunday table. We sampled three dishes, two cream sauces and the bolognese sauce. The cream sauce dishes were deliciuos and would order again. I rate an Italian restaruant on their ragu based sauce.
