One among many Indian restaurants at Siem Reap all set up in recent times to cater to Indian tourists looking for food back from their home country. They have an annexe to cater to large groups as their 2 storied restaurant is small. They have a pan-Indian menu chosen to reflect tastes from across India. They ask for at time of order and modulate spiciness of the food with the spicy food garnished with both chilly powder and minced green chillies (so choose the spicier option only if you have the stomach for it). The food is quite good and made fresh and served hot. They have a range from South Indian snacks to dishes for meals. They also serve set meals in variants. The meals can be filling. Portions of a la carte dishes are sumptuous and filling. As they have an Indian crew in the kitchen, they serve authentic looking and tasting food. Thus, they have both Indian tourists and those from other countries patronising them. Service is quick and efficient and the staff politel and friendly. Prices are reasonable. A good place for Indian Food...
ย ย ย Read moreFinally! Indian food in siem reap. After touring Thailand and Cambodia for last 10 days my parents and others were ready for some Indian food. I looked up a place to go to and came across Dakshin. Planned to stop by for lunch on our last day in town, kept expectations super low. Everyone was soooo nice and welcoming to us when we got there. We ordered a bunch of different things - masala dosa, gobi parantha, fish fry, dal makhni, buttermilk, pineapple juice and naans. Everything was better than we expected. My mom loved her Dosa, everyone loved the dal makhni. (If you donโt like garlic then maybe ask them to hold the garlic in the dal). The butter naan was nice and soft, the garlic naan was a little crispy. The gobi parantha was good but was spicy. The fish fry was nice. We also got a dal tadka to go! Wish we had found them earlier and we probably would have done take away every other day while in siem reap. Loved the place, loved the staff and the service. Thank you so much for a little flavor of india...
ย ย ย Read moreThe moment we stepped into Dakshin's it checked off a clean fine dining restaurant for us and after the first meal we were hooked. This is a professionally run restaurant that stands out in Siem reap serving authentic and tasty Indian fare. We also met the owner family who not only helped us and arranged transportation and sightseeing help. It is easy to find good restaurants but it is rare to find excellent food at great value with touching hospitality and care. It is even more heartening to connect with warm and hospitable people on your travels. Dakshin's and its founders will be a part of our Cambodia trip memories and will always be our favourite stop......everyday whenever we are in Siem Reap. Keep up the great experience and don't miss that X factor which goes beyond putting great food on a plate. The touching hospitality is truly a differentiation.
Vegetarian friendly and 15 usd...
