Went here today and for starters, the sushi was pre made on plates sitting out in the open, not on ice. This should have been my first indication to just walk right out. We ordered nigiri (tuna, mackeral, salmon) one roll (salmon) and some Edamame. The salmon nigiri didn't show up. We figured we'd ask for it later if we were still hungry. The tuna was nothing to write home about but OK, the salmon roll the same... For the price we expected more. The salmon roll was not very tightly rolled and feel apart. The mackeral.... this i'd write home about. It was kind of brown (second indication I should not be eating it....). I stuck it in my mouth and couldn't believe how fishy it was. It was my first time taking mackeral and I'm sometimes a picky eater, so I made a face but thought it was just me. My wife took a bite and made a similar face and said she couldn't eat it....I spat it back out on the plate (I've never done this before). My wife is a fish lover and couldn't finish it which was telling. ... We decided against getting the nigiri salmon and almost ran out - only now clueing in that the fish was sitting out uncooled. I am embarrassed that I didn't walk out after the many clues they left me that I shouldn't be eating there ... Many coffees later i still taste that makeral.. here's hoping I don't get...

Been coming here for the past 13 years and only because we've been craving for spicy shrimp roll and the regular items we've been getting only to be welcome by the new lady owner who's very condescending. She's insincere and would look at you in an impatient manner, we were ready to order and we added one item and she rolled her eyes while taking the order.. It was not even busy, they only had 2 tables at that time. She's not the type who will ask if everything's ok, she's sarcastic and rude, she came back at the end handing the bill and pointed at the tip percentage to make sure we will add gratuity. Even if the service was bad we still tipped her 15% as we obviously know the tipping culture and we eat out all the time. Now I regret tipping at all. It feels bad leaving the place that you always love with previous management with the new ones with disappointment. We don't understand how she can run a business without a passion in giving a sincere service. Good luck, you might trick the tourists coming here but you might lose the locals who trusted and love this place for a long time. Food is mediocre now, glad to see more Japanese food options in town to avoid this place at all cost, will...

This is a great cosy little place with fantastic service, great food and great prices. Japanese owned and operated the focus is on high quality, consistent offerings and good service catering to Western tastes as the abundance of rolls indicates. I’ve never had a bad meal here and I’ve tried everything on the menu, their koroke, gyoza, takoyaki, harumaki, tamagoyaki, are so authentic it’s like being back in Japan, the service is above and beyond anywhere else in the Bow Valley it’s refreshing as it’s one of the few remaining Japanese owned Sushi restaurants left in the Bow Valley and it’s hard to beat their Japanese trained Itamaesan (Sushi chef) with his years of experience and it shows in his diligence in preparing your food. The decor is simple but comfortable and their menu is perfect for a nice take out meal or even for a picnic! Try their shu-cream (cream puffs) for dessert! Once you try it you’ll keep...

Cool place good atmosphere. I enjoyed the veiw from the window. Got a couple pieces of nigiri and two rolls. The unagi(bbq eel) had very good texture and the sauce was not too sweet. Most places make it too sweet. Decent salmon it wasn’t amazing but it tasted good. But the tuna was a different story. It tasted way too fishy and it was pretty bad. This would be five stars without that tuna. I really liked the whole experience and am really sad about the tuna. The other rolls were good nothing special, salmon mango and seared salmon. Do recommend I hope they just had a bad day with the tuna.

Cute restaurant! I dig the decor and atmosphere and have been itching to try it since the last time I was in Canmore. But if you're visiting from a port town with a good sushi scene, keep your expectations low. While not bad, I wouldn't say it's great. I ordered some salmon nigiri, a California roll, and a Salmon Fried Onion roll. Serving sizes were small so if you're a big eater or you're coming back from a long hike, expect to spend $30-40 per person if you want to be filled. Server and chef were friendly. Even though I wasn't filled, I was satisfied.
