Cora — Restaurant in Barrie

Great portion size. Great food! Just to update my experience.... My wife and I have been going to all our old spots since COVID and the fairly recent inflation thing started changing our lives. We have noticed negative changes at all our most frequented spots. The usual mix of shrinkflation activities are happening all over. The change of plate size and shape at Wimpy's and others and the price increasing at the same time. The amount of food decreasing for most every place including Swiss Chalet , McDonald's, Subway etc and the prices continuing to climb. Listen I'm ok with prices going up a little if I am still getting the same amount of food as well as quality and service. I don't agree with paying more for less. This is where Cora's comes in........ Haven't been here since before COVID and went today. I was expecting to have something to complain about because I have not had an experience since COVID where something hasn't changed for the bad like the other places I have visited. I am VERY PLEASED to say that Cora's has given me nothing to complain about. First time in about 3 years of dining out at OTHER places. The portions were great and the prices were fair. I'm a basic peameal and eggs person and it was more than comparable to anywhere else in Barrie for price. The portions though were substantially bigger and the 3 egg with a meat choice is hands down the best value in the city of Barrie. The service was exceptional as well, never had an empty coffee cup or water glass. Thank you Cora's and your staff for rejuvenating my faith in the eating out experience. Thank goodness you stuck to what got you here in the first place. 🛑🚨🚑🫣 This is 💯 factual. Before Covid, Coras was my 🥇when it came to breakfast. I always tipped well. I arrived at Coras recently and was waiting to be seated with my guests. A very warm waitress brought us to our table. After that, we waited to be served. We waited quite a while, more than normal, but the customers who came in after us were served before us?? Anyhow, finally, a waitress comes to our table. This waitress had the most nonchalant, unwelcoming, I don't care, order and get out attitude. I figured she's a senior and I made an excuse for her behavior because the staff in the past had been so welcoming and warm. We ordered teas and our meals. She came back with the teas. 😳 When we looked into the tea cups, there was quite a bit of leftover food. YES, I said food in our tea cups. I was shocked, I tried to get her attention, but she was serving others. So I got up and showed these cups to her and other waitresses. HER FACE WAS NOT BOTHERED, THERE WAS NO APOLOGY, she truly didn't care. They were going to bring new cups and we said ok... I went back to my seat and we decided to leave after my guest found food on the utensils!! Another waitress came and said, "The dishwasher isn't working well." I looked around and wondered about everyone else in the restaurant. Did they receive the same courtesy? Are they seeing this. The new waitress gave us an ultimatum. We can leave or they can get us new cups and utensils. Oh, and there's no pressure she said. Lol, have you ever been put on the spot like that after you've been wronged. An ultimatum! i am so upset to be writing a bad review for this place. cora has been my go-to breakfast restaurant for a really long time, but i think that’s about to change after the experience that i had this time. i am a teen, and usually go with a parent. this time, i went with two of my friends to celebrate our graduation, and the service was terrible. the food was the same as it always is, but i was baffled by the quality of the service. the server didn’t introduce herself, and just kind of came up to our table and waited for us to say what we wanted. when we wanted to clarify something about our orders, she gave us a strange, almost dirty look as we spoke. we are extremely polite, and we do not cause any sort of disturbance or anything, so i’m not sure why we were being treated as if we were being a nuisance. we were not offered any ketchup, maple syrup, or butter/pb/jam with our food, while empty tables around us were set with all of that stuff, and the table across from us got two bottles of ketchup, comically. we were left completely alone until the server decided that it was time for us to pay and get going. i am extremely hurt by this experience, and it made it even worse that we could see other tables in our section being treated normally by the same server. the only reason that we could’ve been treated differently was due to our age, and i’ve honestly never felt more discriminated against. if you’re a teen, don’t bother coming alone or with your friends.. just come...
