Ordered the pad Thai. The noodles and meal overall were good, but I ordered tofu and I found a good amount of it UNDER the noodles. The problem I found with this is that it inflated the look of the noodles, making it seem like there was more, when there wasn’t. I think a food court place would give you more quantity than what this place did. I also found the plate to be made of plastic and it was wobbly on the table.
Additionally, the bean sprouts were not fresh and looked bad and unappetizing. When I pointed it out, they showed me the full bag of bean sprouts that they said had been delivered just yesterday, and the entire bag didn’t look fresh as well lol. (I work in a field related to foodservice and so am frequently in manufacturing plants, so I can tell the difference between a fresh and unfresh bean sprout)
I liked that they provided self serve utensils and water. The “restaurant” itself was clean, though I was the only person there eating, apart from an employee...
Read moreRice and Noodles is an appropriately named fast food outlet. This particular location is a bit hidden as it's on the back end of Highgate in Burnaby so you don't really see it unless you're looking for it.
They serve up a collection of various asian carb based dishes with a fiery wok that's similar to what you see at some other notable fast food places.
The ingredients tend to be updated or fusion takes on classic dishes like green curry chicken or pad Thai. I liked the fresh veggies in the green curry but they definitely aren't what you'd expect with a traditional recipe.
As expected, the high heat from the wok gives a nice texture to the pad Thai noodles.
Service is pretty good. You order at the counter and they will bring the dish to your table. The loud afterburner noise from the wok when cooking is a bit distracting. But otherwise, it's a fairly quiet place to grab...
Read moreThose people lied to my wife in her face, and told her that her laksa is not made with chicken broth, when she literally and directly asked her after the purchase "is it made with chicken broth? Because i am a vegetarian". The lady answered:"no, vegetable broth". My wife is both religiously vegetarian, but also alergic to meats and meats biproducts. She spent half an hour throwing up afterwards. My mother in-law went right after to test them in regards to the very same product by asking "what broth is your laksa made of" and they answered "chicken". I have never met any kind of business in all Canada so far that would dare to do such a thing. I wish to see this business close forever. Do not ever try this thrashy place. I would have rated it...
