I haven’t been here in awhile, but as I was scrolling amongst photos in my camera roll, I’ve realized the most consistent thing in my life has been Tealips. I’m a senior in high school graduating this year, but scrolling back, you’ll find I’ve been going here since I still went to elementary school. In all these years, I cannot recall a single bad experience. My friend who lives next door told me her entire life’s story at the table by the window. I’ve stared at the same cabinet full off bubble-tea related gifts for years. I’ve watched as their decor changed slightly, adding plushes and cactuses, and the small changes in their menu. I’ve genuinely saved money through their student deals, and the amount of toppings they offer is top tier. I don’t know where I would be without a small, comforting place nuzzled in my life like Tealips. Coco’s mass produced pearls got nothing on my love like Tealips. I’ve sat at those tables as a child, with a mask on during COVID, and even now as a struggling student. In the grand scheme of all things of life, so much is moving, but not Tealips. Tealips understands you. Tealips welcomes you. Tealips is you....
Read morePrior to their short-term closure because of COVID, I would go to this cafe frequently to get my dessert waffle fix. Since their re-opening, I've ordered take out twice for their dessert waffle (I ordered by phone the first time, secondly through their website). I usually order one liege berry waffle and one brussels waffle. Unfortunately, for both times I ordered, the waffles were overcooked (the texture was hard and the liege was not "chewy" like how they advertise). I suspect they either gave us two brussels instead of one of each waffle type however, this has happened for both times that I ordered take-out. If that isn't the case, then there is no difference between the liege and brussels since they both had the same consistency/texture/taste.
This is the closest dessert waffle place to where I live, but I don't think I will come back to order based on the past two experiences. Quite a disappointment considering the price-point as well.
EDIT: Nov 4, 2020 I've returned for take-out waffles and I find the consistency of the waffles much...
Read moreHonestly, we had gone to this location as it was the closest when I was babysitting my niece otherwise we would have gone a block over to a different bubble tea joint. There was nobody in the café and I could see them prepping items or unpacking things. I wasn’t really welcome and then when I finally placed my one bubble tea order (a passion fruit black tea with jelly) it took forever… it seemed like the workers were hoping each other instead of just making my drink, and I ended up waiting there for quite a while before I got it. The jelly had a weird texture and it wasn’t my favourite (when it usually is an easy classic flavour). With that being said, they had cute bubble tea kits which I’m sure make for a nice gift or activity to do. The store itself was clean and they serve food as well so it’s probably a nice easy spot for younger groups to hang out or study over food and drinks. Hopefully my experience was...
