(This will be a wordy review, but these guys DESERVE IT) I came here for the YYC Hot Chocolate Fest, and found a GEM of a cafe, not to mention that the Ferrero Rocher hot chocolate was the BEST winter drink I've ever had (man, I'd even drink it in summer if I could, I'm honestly hoping they'll add it to the menu). These guys KNOW drink-making. Here are a few things that I loved about being there: - Size of drink - The portion sizes are perfectly accurate, and just enough to leave you feeling satisfied. (The hot chocolate was very rich, so I appreciated this) - Welcoming Environment - Once I walked through the door, I genuinely felt welcomed by the barista. He gave very good service. - Good Price - The price was very reasonable for the quality of the drink. As a person who is a little strapped for cash at the moment, this was a very nice factor. Apprentice Cafe delivered a very high-quality, aesthetically pleasing, and delicious drink for a price that the average person can pay, which I think is brilliant on their part. There are many more reasons why I will go back, but I won't bore you. But I will close with this: Make sure you go to Apprentice Cafe! You will not regret it! P.S. Try to make it before February ends, so you can get the hot chocolate!

Was able to stop by on Mother's Day weekend and had a wonderful experience. The space is smaller but still welcoming, with a lot to take in, from the various books and the artwork to the amazing view of downtown Calgary. I can see it getting cramped in the winter, but in all other seasons there is seating outside or at the park across the street. I started with a simple Americano and ham and cheese breakfast sandwich. The coffee (Monogram) was perfect and I didn't need to add anything to enhance to flavour. The sandwich was larger than I expected. The focaccia was soft and flavourful, the bechemel was subtle and did not overpower the eggs and ham. I was able to have a pleasant conversation with the owner about coffee and cafes. He greeted everyone else that came in and I could tell that there were a lot of regulars stopping by. I left with an amazing cup of mango and pineapple sorbet and a drip coffee. The sorbet was light and refreshing with a smooth consistency. I talked the place up so much that my partner had to see it for herself and we stopped in early on Sunday. Even though he was busy, the owner was able to still have a quick conversation before we had to leave. My partner was very happy with how good her cappuccino turned out.

Apprentice Cafe is an absolute gem in the heart of downtown! My wife and I stopped in for coffee and were thoroughly impressed—not only by the rich flavors in our drinks but by the cozy ambiance, the downtown view, and the genuine friendliness of the staff. We ordered a hot Vanilla Latte and a Caramel Latte, and from the very first sip, we knew we were in for something special. The taste was unmatched, with a depth and quality you don’t find in typical syrups. When we asked about it, the server explained they prepare their syrups in-house, using only high-quality ingredients, which truly elevates the flavor. The cafe itself is small, but immaculately clean and well-kept, including a spotless kitchen area in plain view. Even though I wasn’t particularly hungry, the atmosphere and attention to detail inspired me to try their Roasted Chicken Sandwich. The server offered to customize it, and it was easily one of the best sandwiches I’ve had—made even better by the fact that they bake their buns fresh in-house! Apprentice Cafe has officially earned a spot on my list of favorite cafes in town. If you’re a coffee or food enthusiast, this place is a must-visit.
