Read moreI’m an Airbnb host, so I make a point to stay up-to-date and curious about Calgary’s local attractions. Final verdict: a must-do for any visitors or locals curious about the story of the Stampede.
The Sam Centre is the answer to all the inquiries for Stampede-related attractions Calgarians receive from our visiting friends and family when it’s not taking place. It’s well-organized and creatively presented in a beautiful space. They’ve done an incredible job of telling the story of the event and sharing some of the behind the scenes details. Be sure to sit on the floor for the theatre presentation!
Bonus: there’s a fantastic cafe/ restaurant so you can linger and enjoy the space after you’re done.
Volunteers Karen, John, and Brenda were all incredibly helpful and patient with all my questions. Huge shoutout to them. When I mentioned that I was digging around as part of my hosting duties, Karen dropped what she was doing to take me on a tour, which was so...
Read moreI'm a native Calgarian and I love the Stampede. I was excited when I heard about the SAM Centre and couldn't wait to see it. They spent a lot of money (at least 44 million dollars) for a building that displays artifacts that could've been exhibited a small area of the Western Oasis in the BMO Centre or even the new Glenbow museum They need to reconsider their...
