Absolutely garbage. Had lunch there today with my wife and two kids. This is the first time we left a restaurant without finishing the meal. The service is incredibly horrible. I work in food industry myself and usually I have very high tolerance to mistakes restaurants make. But this restaurant is on a different level. No one has a clue what’s going on and what to do. I ordered one of the fried noodle dishes, they sent me a different fried noodle. When I was wondering what’s going on. A different waitress showed up with my order telling me she doesn’t know who sent the wrong order and asking me if want to buy both fried noodles or just keep the wrong one. I was shocked how I had to pay for the mistake they made and I couldn’t get what i ordered if I don’t pay double. But I didn’t say anything just kept the wrong order and would just let it go. Servers have to respect to their customers. Right after my order got messed up. Another older lady came up to us. I thought she might be the manager and try to solve the problem. She told us straight that we can’t have outsider drinks in their restaurant. We were informed of that when we got seated already, and put our drinks in the middles of the table. And we were sitting there for almost half an hour. I told her some one already told us and we are almost finished with our meal. Why she needs to tell us again about the same thing? She got really aggressive and argued back “well, I don’t know about other people, it’s the first time ‘I’ talk to you about this” it’s made me wonder did I commit crime for bringing a drink into the restaurant and not drink it and have to be reminded over and over? I replied “ If each one of your employees has to tell us the same thing, why don’t you just gather everyone who works here and tell me about it one by one right now” . She went behind the bar and talking really loudly about my family in Cantonese and pointed fingers at us in front of all the other customers. At this point I just couldn’t take it anymore. And went up to tell them this is it, I’ll just pay for whatever I ate and leave. Service was extremely slow and clueless. We were in the restaurant for more than half an hour, ordered 4 dishes, one got messed up, one never showed up. And when I said I will go, the servers asked me ‘what did you eat?’ Uh, maybe you should know? Took them 10 minutes to figure out what I had and to decide if I should pay for the wrong dish. They finally figured out what I ordered. They charged me 44 dollars for the 2 dishes which we didn’t even finish. And told me they didn’t charge for the wrong fired noodles as a favor... As I was leaving the restaurant, some one from the kitchen showed up with my shrimp dish and asked me if I still want to eat it…. This restaurant really needs some management. Hire someone who knows how to talk to customers! Don’t mess up the orders and make customer pay for it! Don’t show up again and again and say what customers did ‘wrong’! Don’t talk behind the customers and point fingers! Don’t make customers wait 30 minutes...
Read moreI would give this a ZERO star if I could. Came in for breakfast this morning. Specifically the short lady with short hair was VERY RUDE. As she was about to take our order, she told us that she is very busy so we have to hurry up and say our order right away. Seriously, this side comment was not even necessary, and we didn't even ask her any additional questions as we already knew what we wanted to order. It boggles my mind. Even service in Hong Kong is not like that; they'd take your order fast but they would not throw those unecessary douchebag comments right off from the start. This lady has some serious issues as this is no longer only about efficiency anymore but just throwing verbal attack comments to any customers. In addition, she forgot to serve me the garlic toast bread which comes with the HK breakfast, and I had to ask for it from another server. If you are going to expect customers to order very fast then you'd better AT LEAST serve the order right. IF YOU HAD TO RUDELY TELL CUSTOMERS TO HURRY UP TO INCREASE YOUR SERVICE EFFICIENCY THEN THIS IS REALLY A CLEAR INDICATOR THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG ON HOW YOU MANAGE YOUR SYSTEM SERVING CUSTOMERS THEIR FOOD IN THE RESTAURANT. THIS LADY WAS RUNNING ALL OVER THE PLACE WITHOUT ANY PROPER SYSTEM AT ALL. Even M Palace restaurant has a better service in comparison and they didn't need to harass customers during order taking to keep...
Read moreHonestly this restaurant does not deserve a perfect 5/5 (4.5/5) but Calgary doesn't have much to offer. This is probably the "best" Chinese cafe in Calgary. The prices are pretty affordable and their menu is very extensive and provides most of the common items that you'll likely find in other restaurants. However, the flavors of each dish are definitely better than most other restaurants and the restaurant is open very late so you can eat that greasy dish that you'll regret in the morning.
Service is pretty sporadic in quality but you'll get your food and orders in eventually. Honestly, Chinese restaurants aren't known for their quality service and you shouldn't go in there with high expectations just to be disappointed. You wouldn't expect your deadbeat dad to show up at your 13th birthday either.
I think Calgary Court should be appreciated for their quality. While it isn't great and surely not the best that can be offered, it is still heads and shoulders above many other Chinese restaurants. I personally enjoy and recommend their baked rice (Tomato Sauce and Pork Chops). While I have eaten at Calgary Court many times, there are still many dishes that I want to try and have seen many others order. This further shows the numerous options in their menu.
Calgary Court provides great Chinese food at late hours for very reasonable prices and I definitely recommend that you...
