My wife and I love Vietnamese food. So when we were feeling hungry we decided to check out the spots nearby. There were a few places that were relatively close, but Le La was rated higher, so we didn't mind driving a little farther.
We entered the restaurant, and I was a little surprised because it seemed pretty empty. We were shown to a table by the very friendly staff, and we started digging through the menu. I already knew I wanted a bowl of vermicelli as it's a favorite of mine, so I searched for that specifically.
We ordered, and waited. Not too long after our meal arrived. So far it seemed pretty average as far as Vietnamese restaurants go.
Then I tasted the food.
This stuff is good. Like really good. It's the kind of vermicelli that makes you wonder why you bother to eat anything else. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the fish sauce was tangy and delicious. The vegetables were fresh and gave an excellent crunch. The meat was seasoned well, and cooked wonderfully.
Even the spring rolls, which at any other place are good but not amazing, were superb. Both my wife and I noted how good it was by making the this-delicious-food-caught-me-off-guard face. This was all finished off with some bubble tea.
This place is a cut above nearly all other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. I highly recommend you come here and try this food out. I think it definitely deserves five stars, and all the business they can fit in.
Edit: I've been back a few times, and the review above...
Read moreThis is what I consider a hidden gem. I just stumbled across this before a softball game and it was a real treat. First off it's super clean and very welcoming. There was plenty of seating and each table had all the necessary condiments you'd expect. Service was great and I was greeted politely and sat quickly. Now the food, well I do really love Vietnamese food and consider myself quite knowledgeable about it. I ordered salad rolls and they came quickly and were clearly fresh. The wraps were nice and soft but had the perfect chewiness. It came with a house made sauce that was truly amazing! It was warm, which was such a pleasant surprise and the tangy flavour with bits of peanut was just perfect with the salad rolls. I also ordered the special pho which had 5 different meats and was in a terrific broth. I found this to be one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants and will be returning soon. Please go try this place, I know you won't be...
Read moreGenerous portions of quick, tasty food. I've tried the beef with crispy noodles and the rice vermicelli with sate chicken and both were large enough to be hard to finish (but tasty enough to finish regardless).
Table service if you eat in is fast, relaxed/informal, and friendly. And I know it's a small thing to point out, but I really loved the chopsticks they have at the tables.
If I could improve one thing... If you order as take-out, the food is awkwardly separated into compartments in the container. Like, the rice noodles in one section, the meat in another section, the veggies in another. I always have to get another bowl to mix it all up, and dishes make me sad. But that's a personal preference and not really worth losing a star over.
In short, lunch here...
