Marcello's Market and Deli — Restaurant in Calgary

In full disclosure, upfront I want to mention that I had bought a Too Good to Go surprise bag, in which it is understood that you're buying left over food that would otherwise be thrown out at a reduced cost. However, this is meant to be a win-win. The restaurant recoups a little cost and the consumer reduces food waste. However, Marcello's abuses this program. I was told that I'd be buying $25 worth of food for $8 but received a box of slop thrown together with zero consideration that this was meant for human consumption. There was a scoop of some sort of pasta at the base with rice thrown on top and some sort of veg thrown on top of that with a few random pieces of fish and a chicken leg (presumably) that was swimming in BBQ sauce but required significant effort with a knife to break apart. A colleague of mine let me know that she had also had a very similar experience. The presentation was nauseating - perhaps if there had been any effort to not create a big mixed up mess, I could have eaten "something" but as it was, I simply had to toss the box - a complete fail. This was short sighted on the part of the restaurant. This was my first experience with Marcellos and I work in a neighboring building and would have returned to pay full price for a future lunch had I had a good experience. Instead, I'm left with a real sour taste about the chain and will not return. I did not bring this to management's attention as I had returned to my office before noticing and given the complete disregard and rotteness of the situation, I felt that leaving this review would bring greater satisfaction than listening to excuses...

Wow…I was impressed when I saw the lunch delivery on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Meeting expectation is understatement. Pranav, you actually went above and beyond. I have worked with so many different caters, and I must tell you-you are one of the best I have worked with.

I really appreciated the selections especially the fixings for the power bowl you provided us. I know you and your team put in lots of work and effort on it. Kudos to your prep. staffs Maricel and Keyur at Marcello Devon Tower. As well, you are very flexible when we have the special meals discussions and provide with different choices and ideas. You are always available and ready to assist.

Everyone in the class enjoyed the food so much. They were also impressed, and you made me look like a Superstar. Thank you very much, Pranav!

Fantastic catering company. Exceptionally friendly staff, Pranav - the owner - is wonderful to work with, very accommodating to our customized needs, and is great at suggesting options that suit(ed) our needs.
