Oasis Juice and Nutrition Bar — Restaurant in Calgary

This was our first meal in Calgary and wasn't a great experience. Although full marks for the considerate and helpful staff but the food wasn't just worth it. We were four (two seniors) and went for an Avocado Wrap, an Egg Wrap, a Vegan Sandwich and, a Hummus Wrap. For beverages, we went for an Americano and a Ginger Tea with Milk. Now, unless you're alone, it won't make any sense to be here because the wraps (Avocado and Hummus) and the sandwich (Vegan) tasted very much the same. It was like the sandwich was the same as the wrap, except that the tortilla was replaced by bread. We didn't eat Egg Wrap since we're vegans but my father-in-law thought it was good. The worst experience we had was with the ginger tea. The issue was with the split milk. It might have to do with the ginger used since they showed us the milk they were using and it looked fine. The gentleman said that that's how it is and it doesn't mean the milk is bad or something. We weren't convinced - having had ginger tea every day back home. The gentleman showed his own ginger tea which he was drinking but that also had split milk and he was drinking it happily. By this time I had lost the motivation to argue and just left it there. Google said it was open today from 9.30am. We arrived at 10.30, it was closed and the employee/owner inside told us „eleven“. So we came back, it was 11.06, the door was still locked. The man opened the door, not before checking the time on his watch. It was pretty hot inside and the TV was loudly showing a soccer game. While we were deciding what to eat, he took all his time to put the tables etc outside. We waited until he was done and finally ordered. While I was telling him my order, he kept looking at the TV and had to ask me several times what I wanted. Very disrespectful in my opinion to not look in my face. We went outside to wait for our food which took at least 15mins to finish (2 açaí bowls, a smoothie and a bagel). Luckily, the food was very delicious. I‘m not sure if I would come back; I would definitely check out the delivery options...

Firstly, this isn’t even a vegan cafe! Even though the title of the restaurant on google maps states: ‘Oasis Juice & Nutrition Bar - Best Vegan Cafe’

Secondly, the food was TERRIBLE - Something I could make in 5 mins with way better quality at home. The service was sooo slow and we were the only people walking in and didn’t even get greeted when approaching the register.

Thirdly, before paying and seeing my food. The owner advertised his ‘pure raw date cookie’ which wasn’t even a raw date cookie and had a stone inside when eating it! When I told the server that there was a stone inside the cookie, he just looked at me and didn’t say anything.... Awkward! Stupidly, I already paid so I was in a uncomfortable situation waiting hours for a bad sandwich.

Utterly disappointed. Bad service, bad food and a lie that it is a vegan...
