I stepped into Oddburger to give it a try, drawn by their offer of a complimentary meal for teachers during the strike — a kind gesture on the surface. But what unfolded was anything but appreciation. The staff member asked to see my ATA card. I didn’t have it on me, but I offered multiple forms of valid identification: my current school ID, my district email, and my school-issued credit card. She photographed my credit card and sent it to the manager, who came back with a verdict: not good enough. Apparently, only the ATA card — a piece of plastic that simply marks a teacher’s certification, not their current employment — was acceptable. Let’s be clear: that card proves you were once a teacher, not that you still are. People change careers. What I provided was more current and far more relevant. But instead of being treated with trust or dignity, I was interrogated and dismissed, as if I were trying to cheat my way to a sandwich. In the middle of an unpaid strike, this is how you “show appreciation”? This wasn’t about verifying eligibility — this was about questioning my integrity. It felt invasive, humiliating, and completely out of line. If your offer is meant to support teachers, then support us. Don’t treat us like suspects for trying to accept your so-called generosity. I won’t be returning. Disappointed doesn’t even begin...
Read moreI normally don't do this.. But I felt compelled after all the hype surrounding Odd Burger. Where do I start. I had high hopes with a 4.6 rating on google and I am sure there are people who really enjoyed this food, however. We were barely half way through our burgers and we were sick of the flavour, felt as though we had to eat them quickly just to get it down. We tried both the smash patty and the GF chickpea patty, and had generally the same experience for both. Both the chickpea patty and smash burger lacked flavour. The chick pea patty was very dry, don't know if this is a regular thing but it was taking away from the flavour and the enjoyability of the experience. What had given the burgers flavour was the bun, which was quite delicious as well as the bacon on the smash burger (honestly saved the burger)! Ordered a classic burger for my boyfriends mom to enjoy and the presentation was lacklustre... We also both grabbed the tot supreme and fry supreme side options and felt as though we were eating watery cheese soup with soggy fries and tots... Super disappointing. Overall would not be ordering this again, but respect those who did enjoy their meals. V burger is still best overall for vegan options in our...
Read moreWe ordered at the kiosk, staff was friendly restaurant was clean. We ordered two meals one breakfast maple crunch and one facon(tastes like Yves fake bacon) melt both sandwiches were fully customizable and tasted good. For sides we had a poutine and onion rings, the onion rings were great but the cheese was not melted on the poutine which is was not awesome. We had an orange juice and orange milkshake. The milkshake really shines and makes me want to try other desserts there. But it's vegan and it is mostly frozen highly processed food cooked, it tastes good but not really what veganism is about. The packaging and waste baskets did not seem to be setup for sorting the garbage and recycling and compost, but this restaurant is brand new and still being setup I assume. Price also seem a bit of a turn off at $20 for a combo with upgrades. Also a tipping option is weird for a fast food restaurant with a kiosk for ordering, it is a turn off just pay your workers enough that gratuities aren't warranted they are working hard at least the two who served myself. Had a good experience will probably visit for frozen treat again. Glad to see more...
