Recently moving from Airdrie to Calgary I was familiar with the pita basket franchise thinking it was a solo store but being told upon ordering here that this is the original location that began it all over 20 years ago, speaking to the food I got what I'm accustomed to, a beef Donair with my own topping choice and it was constructed quickly with good amount of ingredients and all done with gloves and good hygiene and toasted to perfection wish I had a photo of it but man it was gone in under a minute it was so delicious I opted to get hummus and pita to go and have added a photo, the potion may seem small compared to other restaurants but the price was only $6 for that amount shown, I was surprised they don't fry any pita cuts as the crispy smokyness of that process elevates the hummus but overall it was very very delicious and the owner was incredibly friendly and informative and loves repeat customers they are also open all days weekend and calender holidays aswell. the internal space for dine in is a little cramped but there is plenty of seating room including booths and bars facing window, only critique I have is they may want to update the paint scheme as the greens are dark and do hide grime I'm sure being a older business but if changes to a bright and inviting colour with lights that shine through window may entice much more attention being able to peer through the window with contrast on the inside from the adjacent intersection. 8/10 will definitely...
Read moreI would give it -1 star if I could, but i can;t! they have good tabouleh, everything else is disgusting I also found a hair in my tawook sandwich when i ordered form skip the dishes, i told the skip company about it they basically said i need to take it with the restaurant, what's the point? I do not want any more food from that place! they obviously do not know what a hair net is! and i mean a long dark wavy-ish hair rolled in with the sandwish, i have never been as disgusted as i was in my entire life!!! aside from the hair the quality of the food wasn't good at all... the beef shawarma platter was so overcooked, (seems like they cook their food days before and keep reheating) the veggies are okay , not the greatest, the shawarma sandwich aside from the disgusting hair, it was also very badly done, the chicken is no way grilled! tastes more like boiled!! maybe whoever eats here doesn't know what an authentic shawarma should taste!! and to be honest calgary isn't the city for proper shawarma food unfortunately!! that's Toronto...
Read moreThe food is ok, there's nothing that separates this place from any other Lebanese/Shawarma place downtown, but the experience is always so negative. I get working in a pandemic is tough, but it was like this before. The staff always have attitude, and seem entirely disinterested in their job nor do they really care about what it is they're giving you. I ordered something with "everything but pickles" quite loudly, she acknowledged me, and then mumbled something, shook her head and gave me maybe half of the toppings. I got a pseudo-cold/warmish falafel wrap after an inadequate grill. The last time I was in there, the staff was berating someone who was asking if the sauce was vegan. Pretty rude, and average food = you...
