SOLE Restaurant&Bar — Restaurant in Calgary

We visited Sole for a Karaoke night out, it was a party of 6 people. We booked the small room which has a capacity of 12 people. We did not eat here so I can’t review the food. Overall, it was ok. Pros: -quick drink service -clean and spacious bathrooms -doorbell inside the room to ring for a server means you don’t need to leave the room to flag down a server, which is convenient. -fair pricing for booking rooms (except for the gratuity which I explain below)

Cons: -there is an untold mandatory gratuity of 18% for parties of 5 (or 4, I can’t recall exactly) or more. This isn’t shown anywhere on the website or when we were texting with Kevin from Sole when booking a room. I think Sole needs to make sure they say upfront that customers will be charged a mandatory gratuity for parties larger than 4 or 5 people. Being told at payment time feels disingenuous. If we were told ahead of time we would have no problem.

-we were only shown the giant binders of songs and how to create a queue of songs from the numbers in the binders. This is a painfully slow process. The binders do not have all of the latest songs either. The server did not tell us that there is a merciful button on the remote where you can search by artist or by song directly through the karaoke machine. This was told to us by our friend who has visited before and who is Korean so he can understand what the remote buttons say since the buttons were in Korean characters. This button saved us SO MUCH TIME. And it has popular, up to date songs! Why isn’t this shown to us at the beginning by the server? Please start doing this it will save customers so much time!

-whenever we would sing duets the score at the end would be 00, no matter who was singing and with any song. We thought something was wrong with one of the microphones? We didn’t figure out why it was doing that.

All in all, if the duet function worked and mandatory gratuity rule was upfront, this review would be...

Hey y’all! I just want to share my experience with SOLE Karaoke bar! If I can give this place more than 5 starts I would!

FOOD WAS AMAZING!! IM NOT EXAGGERATING IT! IT REALLY WAS AMAZING!

Come down yourself and take a look at the menu and you will not be disappointed.

We came here for my girlfriends 25th birthday and we spent less than $500 worth of food and drinks for 12 people and we received a complimentary soju from the house. I don’t know the reason why but we really appreciated it.

The room fee was waived because of the foods and drinks that we ate.

Before you comment “$500 for foods and drinks? That’s ridiculous” $500 worth of drinks 3 bottles of whiskey and 2 bottles of soju and a BUNCH of FOOD.

Yes $500 was WORTH IT!!! and everybody that came really had a blast.

We didn’t wanna leave.

The crew? I don’t wanna miss the crew at Sole Karaoke bar. THEY ARE AMAZING! THEY ARE VERY ACCOMMODATING! TOP NOTCH CUSTOMER SERVICE!

In conclusion, THIS SPOT IS A HIDDEN GEM AND ONE OF THE BEST KARAOKE SPOT IN CALGARY HANDS DOWN!

MONEY WELL SPENT AND AN UNFORGETTABLE...

I used to come here before the renovations and I heard that they reopened again so I decided to go to Sole for a celebration. The hours on google say 11 am - 2 pm during the day and 4 pm - 2 am during the evening but I called all morning to try to book a reservation and no one picked up. I did not get a call back until after 2:00PM which I missed because I was at work at that time. When it came time for the bill, they did not ask to spilt the room cost among everyone in the room that was there but rather just charged the person that reserved the room. And on the website it specifically says that room fees are waived if each guest spends more than $30 which is exactly what we did. But what they don’t tell you is that they will only waive this up to 2 hours which is misleading. I was there for 2 hours and they charged me for 3 saying that even if you go over by a minute it will charge another hour. I would not have had to pay for the room at all if they had not added the extra hour and mislead everyone. This is poor customer service and I know that they can remove the 3rd hour but I choose to keep it and pretend they everything is okay. I am honestly disappointed and will not even consider going here again until they do something about this ridiculous advertising. I will also make sure to pass on this experience to my friends so that they avoid...
