I went to their iftar buffet today, with my family. Food tasted good, nice atmosphere, good service. Fish cutlets very nice, with lemony flavor. Soup was great,I couldnt tell exactly what its made of, but tasted and looked like a lentil soup. My son loved pasta and their spring rolls. The main dish, rice with meat, is where I have a polite complaint with the management. Meat was over and I never got the chance to even taste it. Rice tasted amazing though. As a meat lover, it was a turn off for me. They replenished it, and a bunch of other customers were already surrounding the main dish and by the time I got my turn, it was finished once again. It beats the idea of a buffet. I can't blame other customers either, as they paid to eat too. But a humble request to management, please look into this matter. I like the taste of your food, and I do plan to come again for iftar buffet. But running out of your main dish of the night is going to make me think again before visiting. On a positive note, I did some hefty charity tonight after coming back from iftar just now, because in a moment of silence, Allah uneased my heart, and I felt the feel when after a queue of people, when it was my turn, meat ran out. I started thinking about all those people out there who are not able to get food for themselves or their families. Here I was upset about meat, while I had all other types of good tasting food infront of me. Rice alone was not less tasty either. I ate rice and said all praise to almighty. Lets give more charity to deserving people please. And to Diwan management, please do not take my message negatively. Despite feeling unhappy at one point in time in your restaurant, I left you 20% tip, and Iam leaving you 5 stars in review. But please do try to understand customers perspective as well. Do not expect me, a customer, to elbow another customer, in my race to snatch food. This shouldn't be the case. Please modify your strategy. There are previous reviews of other clients also about shanks running out. If its a buffet and you are charging your per head fee, "it ran out" is an unfair excuse to a customer. Alhamdulilah, grace of almighty, I can afford and I could eat elsewhere too after leaving your restaurant, but its again unfair to a customer who chose your restaurant as an iftar place, and left not fully satisfied. Increase your per head price if you must, assign an attendant to your main dish if you must, but dont let customer leave dissatisfied please. If you must not increase your raw material cost and limit your meat product, then how about deliverying to customers tables from your main dish? Anyways, Jazakallah for helping people break their fasts and may Almighty bless your business so much that limitation is never an...

The most awful Arabic restaurant in Calgary, and probably in Canada. I went there with my wife and my two kids, we ordered Shish Tawook, Kabab, fish & chips, and chicken wings. First the order took forever although it was 3 PM and the place was almost empty, then once arrived everything was cold except the shish, the fish were not eatable, same for the wings & Kabab, they were cold, harsh and with no taste. We literally throw more than half of the food although we were so hungry. The waitress realized what is going on and tried to apologize, the manager was there making interviews and he was made aware of the situation but did not react in anyway, simply because he doesn't care , we already took the bait and we will pay money from our own pocket for some trash food. There are plenty of Arabic restaurants all over Calgary, and they are all much better and within the same price ranges, so stay away and save your day.
The owner now is saying that I am lying, well you don't except something more professional from people like this: I have been in your restaurant on Friday Apr-04 , I had my citizenship ceremony scheduled at 1:00 PM, we finished around 2:15 PM so I am sure we reach the restaurant anytime between 2.30-3.00 PM, and I am sure of what we ordered, you had an old lady do the cooking in the kitchen, and one of the comments you mentioned to your interviewee is that "We sometimes open till 3AM", unfortunately I do not have the receipt to post an image of it and I really don't care about your opinion, I am just trying to save other people from being ripped off by you. And it is really amazing that you do not serve any platters on the weekdays so what that we ordered?? You were there (or something else I don't know) doing interviews and I saw the waitress approaching you and explaining the situation but you didn't care because this is the attitude of people like you, and I am pretty sure that now you remember what I am talking about but I wouldn't be surprised if you come back again and say that's a lie and I really don't care I just want people who are thinking of coming to your restaurant to read this and think twice before they got ripped off. BTW there are few reviews quite similar to mine by...
Read moreHoly Moly. One of the worst experiences we ever had at a restaurant. I brought my dad in for what was meant to be a nice dinner on Sunday March 10th 2019 to celebrate his birthday based on positive reviews on google and boy was I wrong. We were a party of 5 and the place was not busy, maybe 4 tables being served by 2 waitresses. We sat down and ordered juices, appetizers and entrèes for all of us within 10 mins from arrival. It took them 45 mins to serve their “freshly squeezed” juice which definitely turned out to be bottled. 1 hour later, no food was served, not even cutlery or napkins on our table. Both waitresses appeared to be deliberately looking away from our table like they weren’t keen on serving us. I finally flag the one waitress to ask what’s going on. She talks to the other one assigned to our table. our waitress didn’t come over to give us the update. 15 mins later, she finally comes over to our table with no food after I flagged her aggressively. She tells me she forgot to enter our order in and that she just put it in with no apologies for her tardiness. Finally appetizers arrive after 1.5 hours, on a slow Sunday, with 4 tables, 2 waitresses working. Still no cutlery. Kibbi was advertised on their menu as 8 pieces, they only served 3. Pita bread was served in plastic bags with the babba ganouj that we ordered, like she just pulled it out of the fridge and didn’t bother heating or serving on a platter. Finally we get frustrated. Can’t keep asking the waitress to do her most basic tasks like serve us cutlery. We asked to settle out after the appetizers and we were ready to leave. Fellow walks in to apologize with an excuse that they served a big group before us. Sure, I guess the waitresses needed their siestas between guests. They even billed us for the junk appetizers they served us with no offer to rectify. Save your money and your sanity and go to a more decent place that knows how to serve and treat their customers....
