We went for a binsu, that is great by the way, but something happened that I was quite happy. We stayed there for 20 min maybe, and half of the time, was just the time that he took to prepare my binsu. Meanwhile, my 5y daughter was playing with the games. The binsu was ready, my daughter stoped playing, we ate the binsu. When the binsu was in almost finished, my daughter wanted to play again, so she took one more game. I was finishing the binsu. When I finished, my daughter doesn’t wanted to leave, she wanted another game, so we opened another, played for 5 min, and done, we were ready to leave, it all took 20, 25 min tops everything, entering the place, eating and playing. One more thing, my toddler was breastfeeding, so we were technically 4. When I asked if I could leave the dishes on the table, he said that was fine and I just needed to pay the “playing” fee: he charged us 6,30 por 2 person for 30min. I spend 15cad for the binsu and gave 2cad tip, but it wasn’t enough, we had to pay the playing tip. If there was a waiting line, super busy, I would’ve understand, but there was NOBODY there, just my family. Summing up, if you want to go for the binsu, good choice, great binsu. If you don’t want to pay the playing fee, don’t even touch the games.
Update:
I just read the answer from the place, and I didn’t said that the playing fee was wrong, because technically we were 4, but I work with F&B my hole life, and there’s something called common sense/courtesy, and charging a fee for a 1,5y toddler for just holding the box/card/dices is too much for me. One more time, I didn’t said you were wrong, I’m the first to pay for all my children expenses, I’m responsible for them. I don’t want to argue with you anymore, I don’t want my money back, I just express my felling after paying for the fee, it was just a feedback for your improvement. If you think it’s fair, it’s good for you, great, keep doing that. It’s your business, you know what’s...
Read moreI went yesterday for their soft launch and I was VERY impressed by my whole experience there. The location is conveniently right on McLeod, a few mins drive from downtown, and the atmosphere of the business is very bright & inviting.
I’ve found that a lot of bubble tea places don’t have great lighting, and for me, that’s bad. I liked that this place is well lit and they have a nice big seating area with tactile puzzle games to play —for free!!! They have wooden puzzles that you have to figure out how to put the pieces together, and then they have these metal 2-piece puzzles that you have to figure out how to disassemble. They’re actually quite complicated and I enjoyed that they make you really think hard. It’s very cool!!!
The drinks themselves were also very impressive. I tried the ‘Ancient Ebony’ which is made with black tea, milk, pearls, and topped with whipped cream, cocoa, and an Oreo. It looked extremely sweet BUT I was very pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t too sweet at all; it was a comfortable level of sweetness where you can still taste the tea.
I also tried the strawberry shake and that just blew my mind! Sincerely! It tastes very fresh and again, it wasn’t overly sweet. I was nervous about ordering a shake just based on my experiences ordering strawberry shakes elsewhere over the years. This one tastes like REAL strawberries, not that fake medicine flavour that other places have!
Lastly, I really liked that they do a discount program for people who bring their reusable Y Not Today branded cups in for use there. It’s nice that their shop is into being...
Read moreI came from Vancouver to visit and was excited to try this place, but unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Y Not Today Bingsu has a policy requiring each person to spend a minimum of $6 to play board games. Our group of 3 ordered one bingsu for $15 and I also left a $3 tip, thinking that was fair and met the requirement. About 10 minutes into our game, a staff member told us we could not play because the dessert was only $15 and did not meet the $6 per person minimum (tip didn’t count).
What made it even more uncomfortable was that a man who seemed to be the owner/manager stood behind the counter the whole time, observing each table as if checking whether people had spent enough to play. It felt very strange, unwelcoming, and rude.
I’ve never been to a café where you’re forced to spend a minimum just to play board games, and the way it was handled left a very negative impression. I wasn’t refusing to pay — I simply thought I had already met the requirement. Instead of making us feel welcome as first-time visitors, we were told to stop playing or we need to buy another drink??
The strict policy is already unusual, but the way it was enforced made the experience even worse. I would not recommend this place if you’re looking for a friendly and...
