Update 2: This performance by the entire staff was, bar none, the pinnacle of culinary excellence. Please regard my original review as a "one off" experience.
Everything arrived piping hot, expertly presented and prepared. The chef is at the top of his trade without a doubt. Compliments Chef. Truely superb. Thank you.
The massive 16oz rib eye was done to perfection, and showed up sizzling in butter. Al dente asparagus, fresh and flavourful. Potatoes au gratin simply irresistible. Lavascious lobster tail, with hot butter! But it didn't end there. We topped off our experience with the banana creme pie. To die for. Really. Cool creamy centre, with a warmly toasted crust of sugared fresh banana all resting in the lightest, flakiest pastry you can imagine.
We are grateful for the level of professionalism and superb service; from the waiter, to the host(s). The entire staff went above and beyond to make our evening one to remember.
I highly recommend dining at Ruth's Chris, the classiest atmosphere for fine steak house dining in Canada. This truely is world class and well worth your attention for your next special night out.
Special thanks to Chris for introducing himself and being so welcoming.
Five shining stars well deserved.
Original review, before management change.
Booked a reservation a week in advance. A romantic day of adventure! When we arrived, there was no parking available. Took 20 minutes to find a parking spot.
Despite having a reservation, we waited another 15 minutes for a seat even though there were a few open tables. This would be the running theme for the night. Don't get me wrong, a nice slow pace dining experience is okay. This was beyond that which is tenable. I could go on, but the short story is, incorrect order taking, forgetful, slow service. No offer of a wine pairing with the meal. Lackluster ribeye, and mediocre sides. The waiter was inattentive and delivered less than the exceptional service to which these high prices demand.
Honestly, we get better service and a tastier steak at Montana's. Ouch.
Going to a restaurant which claims to be of such high caliber, and which is a special event that only occurs but once in a decade for us means the experience must match the prices. I had been planning and saving for this for months. Anticipating a real classy, quality dining experience. When I pay nearly 100$ for a steak, it had better be the steak of a lifetime.
This isn't just a one off bad experience, there are many others. Some may feel like they cannot voice it. Having been in hospitality for many years at an advanced level, I know what it takes to provide, and what is expected in regards to service.
Tbh, the prices they charge border on fraud, given the level of service. Not easy to hear, I know.
UPDATE: The call that was made to me by Maggie was very helpful. She and I discussed the situation and was informed by her that the company did not indeed endorse or encourage that service. Changes would be made, and reinforced to me her disappointment in the level of service we received that evening. We ended up finding a solution and I commend the establishment for following up diligently to rectify the situation, and make solutions. Very well done. Thank you...
Read moreWe recently celebrated our anniversary at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Edmonton, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel special. They had noted our anniversary from the reservation and went out of their way to make the evening memorable. Everyone—from the welcoming front desk team to our incredible server, Curtis, and the manager—personally wished us, adding a thoughtful, personal touch that we deeply appreciated.
The ambiance was sophisticated and comfortable, with just the right balance of music to create a lively yet intimate atmosphere. We could enjoy a conversation without raising our voices, which is rare in many upscale restaurants.
The wine selection was impressive, and we followed Curtis's recommendation of a Malbec. It was a perfect choice, complementing the flavors of our meal beautifully. For appetizers, we started with the Spicy Shrimp, another one of Curtis’s suggestions, and it was absolutely delicious—well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor.
For our mains, both my wife and I chose the Filet with Blue Cheese crust, cooked medium rare. It was, without exaggeration, the best filet I have ever had—tender, juicy, and bursting with rich flavors. We paired it with sides of perfectly cooked asparagus and creamy au gratin potatoes, which rounded out the meal splendidly.
To finish the evening, we indulged in a Crème Brûlée for dessert. It was expertly prepared, with a silky texture and just the right amount of sweetness. To our delight, the manager made it a complimentary treat to honor our celebration—a gesture that truly stood out.
Although the restaurant offers a Thursday Date Night menu for two at $199, we opted to order à la carte, and every dish justified the cost. Ruth’s Chris is undoubtedly an investment for a special occasion, but the outstanding food, impeccable service, and warm hospitality make it worth every penny.
Whether you’re celebrating a milestone or simply looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Edmonton is the place to be. We’ll certainly be back and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a remarkable meal in a welcoming and...

We had an anniversary meal here, it was something to remember…. Remember why we don’t dine at place like this. Obviously the wait staff were phenomenal with absolutely zero issues very attentive staff. The restaurant itself is very nice, quiet and pleasant to be in. Not much more to say on the building portion of the review. Parking available right beside the restaurant.
The food is where we have the main issue. We had ordered two steaks, a filet and a ribeye. Now I preface these next parts by saying we own a smoker at home and if you’ve ever slow smoked a steak and seared it off nothing compares in tenderness and flavour. The fillet was ordered medium well and it came out more well. The ribeye was ordered medium rare and came out more rare which wasn’t a large deal for myself otherwise I would have sent it back and gave them the opportunity to fix it. The ribeye was unevenly cooked though, one side was medium rare while the other closer to blue with a strong visual line throughout. Honestly we didn’t feel like waiting for them to fire another fillet and try to cook one side of the ribeye. Flavour wise the steak was somewhere between meh and ok. I feel like any proper steakhouse always finish seasons their steaks before being sent out and these definitely weren’t. We enjoyed the sides though hence the 3 stars for food otherwise it would be a 2 based on the steaks. Harvest salad was decent, the fingerling potatoes were amazing and the carrots (from the seasonal menu) were also amazing. The potato’s had a very strong smokey/chili flavour and had a phenomenal exterior crisp. All in all this feels like another place where people place value on the experience more than flavour and let the dollar signs mute their taste buds and common sense. Because it’s an 80 dollar steak they feel like it was so much better meanwhile I’ve had equal steaks at any number of bbq chain...
