Extremely Disappointing Birthday Experience – Poor Coordination and Service!!!

I had one of the most disappointing birthday experiences at Cactus Club. Two nights ago, it was my girlfriend’s birthday, and I had made a reservation two days in advance because I had heard great things about birthday celebrations at this restaurant. On the afternoon of the birthday, I even visited the restaurant to confirm my reservation and handed the birthday cake to the receptionist, emphasizing that it should be brought to our table after dinner.

When we arrived at our reserved time and finished our meal, I discreetly typed on my phone and showed it to the server: “Please bring the birthday cake! Under the name Radman.” To my shock, the server had no idea what I was talking about! This was incredibly frustrating because everything had been arranged in advance. The receptionist had even labeled the cake with all the details!

Since the server was completely unaware, I had to order an extra dessert just to buy time and avoid ruining the surprise—something we didn’t even want! I then went to the restroom as an excuse and personally reminded the server about the cake. Yet again, they had no clue! I cannot believe such a well-known restaurant failed to coordinate something so simple.

In the end, the cake was brought out in the most unremarkable way—no music, no special touch, just placed on the table as if it were any other dish. The worst part? The edges of the cake were completely ruined because the protective strip had been carelessly removed, making it look like someone had stuck their fingers in it! The damage is clearly visible in the photos.

I would give zero if I could. If you want to get the wrong food and not good service this is the place to go! I was told by a guest service manager not to return because of the mistakes of the kitchen and did not even eat the food because it was incorrectly made. The manager on duty didn’t seem to care and was not helpful either I had photos of a previous order with the same food and showing him how different it looked and it was dismissed. I was told by a the same manager they possibly have new staff training in the kitchen and that is why the food is made incorrectly I wanted to let guest relations know due to the issues that have been happening lately at this Langley location and was told that due to the issues that basically I should not be coming to this location any longer because we are not a good fit as the kitchen and staff cannot provide the food properly? I guess paying for good food doesn’t exist anymore and more so the fact that being disrespectful to clients and customers is the way to go! If you expect the same food quality at other cactus at this location please know it won’t be the same and if you do let them know they will tell you not to return. They will not be bettering themselves but just want simpler clients LOL who do not want to let them know about the issues especially since this is the second time in two weeks they have made food incorrectly! On top of that they are not sorry for wasting your time or efforts to try to help them better themselves and fix their issues. Went for my birthday lunch/dinner today! The birthday raspberry cheesecake was deeeeeeeeecious as was the London fog creme bruleé my parents and I shared both of 😍 I had the truffle Parmesan chicken which to me was lack lustre and lacked flavour of any kind. All I tasted to be honest was the breading/crust on the chicken. The potato gnocchi was cold and mushy, the roasted/grilled mushrooms were rubbery, very very salty and cold. My chicken was meh and didn't have much flavour and the sauce underneath was so extremely salty as well. I wouldn't order this again even though it was a recommended dish from our server as being quite tasty (not her fault whatsoever just wasn't to my liking definitely didn't taste any truffle if there was any) My mom had the steak frites which she said was ok but when she came a few weeks ago she said it was significantly better. My dad shared some delicious appys with us (Szechuan beans, prawn crunch roll, crab dip and he had a chicken slider) The Pina coladas my mom + I had were absolutely delicious as was my dad's Brazilian lemonade. The coffee they had was not good and was cold. my jasmine green tea was really good as well.
