I was on a business trip to Langley, BC, and decided to try something different for dinner. As a fried chicken aficionado, I noticed John's Chicken House was nearby my hotel, so I thought I'd give it a try. The exterior of the restaurant is unassuming, resembling an older fast-food structure. Inside, it was sparse with a large counter for ordering. The young lady who took my order was friendly and efficient, and in a short few minutes, I had my takeout order. I opted for the 4-piece dinner combo with a mix of spicy and regular chicken. The combo came with a small container of gravy that tasted a bit off and a small coleslaw that was almost negligible. The real stars were the chicken and the French fries. The chicken was decent, but I couldn't really tell the difference between spicy and regular. The thighs and legs were well-cooked with a coating of crispy batter that had little taste besides salt. I relished it, though, as I was hungry after a long day of driving. The fries were tastier, with a crisp crust that surprisingly went well with the slightly "off" gravy. I probably wouldn't visit here again. It was an interesting experience, but I believe there are better options nearby, like Popeyes down the road and even the Canadian version of KFC. The cost of the meal was expensive for what you actually get. I guess everyone is experiencing the sticker shock these days.

My first time ordering here and I got the 9 piece family meal that came with 2 medium sides, medium gravy and large fries. I initially called my order in based off some old photos of the menus that were posted by another reviewer, where the 9 piece meal was $31.99. I paid $41.99, after tax it was $44 and a tip brought it to $50. (Don’t come for me with the tip, everything is really expensive right now). The chicken was freshly fried but really under seasoned. I asked for half reg and half spicy and just like everyone else mentioned, spicy ain’t spicy. But it was still quite enjoyable. Fries were good and crispy, and stayed crispy after a drive home, not soggy! Will I order again? Probably..it’s close to home and was tasty. But for $50 it will be a very special occasion treat. They get bonus points for an absolutely stunning live tree in the corner that’s currently blooming with these large flowers that look like magnolias 😍 My 4 stars is strictly based on the price change because I was genuinely expecting $31.99.. I posted new pics of the menus as of Sept 30.

Literally been going to “Johns” which was once Lees since i moved to langley over 20yrs ago. Its always been our go to spot for chicken. And before it was very worth ones money. But today I went in to get the normal meal; was met with little…and now outrageous pricing for what one gets. Econ FAMILY meal : 8pieces of chicken, med gravy, med fries. Okie cool normally fed 2-3 people with the fries and gravy to combo… (perfect, great ,thumbs up) Today i pick it up ans (see picture) this is now what they are calling “mediums” $34 for this… SMALL and SMALL with pieces of chicken… Cool so the meal that was suppose to feed more then one person is literally personal size… literally 1cup of gravy…in dixi size… And basically a wendys “large fries” Im really disappointed in Johns new owners. 1000% rip off now. Jollibees you can get 10piece plus sides for this amount. A childhood fav now crushed.
