Dae-ji serves delicious Korean-style pork cutlet with flavorful sauces/side dishes.
Unlike Japanese pork cutlets, which are known for their thick cuts and perfected batter from renowned restaurants like Narikura and Manze, Dae-ji is quite different from them. It's thinner, close to schnitzel but served with delicious sauce made out from brown roux.
The portion of the original pork cutlet is huge enough to feed both my wife and myself. For the price, it's a cost-effective meal that comes with flavor. Don't allow fear to prevent you from trying the little side-dishes; they are both delicious and addictive.
The curry is also the traditional Korean style using the powdered curry which I grew up having back in Korea. It's quite different from super flavorful and thick Japanese style curry.
I would just try the original cutlet to begin with unless you are comfortable with Korean style curry.
For the generous portion it offers and how authentic it is, I'm really looking forward to coming back whenever I have a sudden craving for Korean...
Read moreI'm afraid this is my worst restaurant review so far. I ordered the 1+1 Curry Katsu deal through Uber Eats, but what I received was essentially one portion split into two boxes. Each “order” had just a few small slices of pork cutlet, while the only thing served in a proper amount was the rice. This was a cheap move.
I’ve ordered from this place more than a dozen times, and this portion size is definitely not normal, almost felt like a scam. This was also my first time trying their curry, and it was honestly the worst curry I’ve had from any restaurant. I don't even remember a time I couldn't finish an order other than this.
I also ordered their “gravy sauce” on the side (this used to be good) but it tastes completely different from the past. I don’t know if the ownership or management has changed recently, but the quality has dropped a lot. Very dissappointed and will never order...
Read moreAbsolutely love Dae-ji so when we moved to Coquitlam center area we were happy to see one and gave it a try.
TL DR: The quality at this location is horrible. Go to the one near lougheed for consistent quality.
We had our favorite boneless soy chicken. Instead of coming in a vented box it was on paper in invented styrofoam. By the time we got home (less than 5 minutes) it was mush.
The effect of being unvented was compounded by the nearly complete lack of sauce. It appeared like they poured a couple tablespoons on the bottom of the empty container, dropped piping hot chicken on top and quickly closed it.
Sides and salad had ketchup sprayed on it for some reason. Our rice dish was ok but basically not too different from buying some korean bbq marinade and making it at home.
Guess we're going...
