TL;DR: waitress forgot to enter gluten free on (celiac) birthday girl's breakfast despite several mentions.
My friend was super excited about Denny's for their gluten free options because she's celiac, and it was her birthday so off we go. (You can probably tell where this is going). Waitress was friendly but didn't put the order in as a gluten free meal, which was mentioned several times in the order-taking process. Because she ordered eggs Benedict she was not able to tell that it wasn't a gluten free English muffin until she'd already eaten it.
We flagged the waitress down and she apologized and then took two other tables' orders before "seeing what she could do". Turns out, the best she could offer was a re-made dish (no, that's not how celiac works) or to remove the pop beverage from my friend's already free birthday breakfast.
When my friend decided that wasn't good enough the waitress brought over her manager (another five minutes and we got up to leave before they came over, gluten reactions have a time limit). Waitress didn't own up to it until her manager was present and while she didn't directly blame the kitchen, she implied it in an effort to redirect blame even though we could all see the receipt.
Receipt of order attached so you can see it was not put in with any gluten free notes. No compensation given aside from meal comp, which we had to fight for.
My friend now has to cancel her birthday party planned for this evening as she will be extremely sick instead.

Read moreThe cooks don't know how to make bacon. They wasted about a pack of bacon trying to get it right. At first, we recieved bacon that was barely cooked and by the time we got it, it was cold. We asked if there was anyway to have it cooked more, so the server went back to the kitchen. After a while, she came back with bacon that was so crunchy. It was awful. Even when the waitress brought it back to the table, she had a look on her face like she knew it wasn't good either. So, she brought it back to them and they made it again. It was better after the third try, but by this time, we had finished the rest of our meals and didn't get to enjoy it with the food.
My partner and I both also had cubed potatoes. Mine were perfect. His were terribly over-seasoned to the point where he had to have a drink of water between each bite. They were so salty.
Our server brought the bacon and potatoes to the attention of the manager. The server came back saying the manager refused to give a discount. We didn't actually ask for one but in this case I'm absolutely shocked that the manager did not come to see us. Any other scenario like this, a manger would come to say hi and get feedback. That did not happen here.
I'm incredibly disappointed and despite this location being conveniently located, I will travel further to eat at a better Denny's in the future.
