Went in for burgers and was surprised that burgers were only half the menu. With a clever name like that it should focus only on burgers so I found it a tad misleading. And I know it says “gyro” under the name but the name is very much insinuating that it’s a burger joint. I want to start off by saying that the young man working the front desk (with glasses)was delightful. He seemed genuinely happy for us to come in by greeting us immediately with a smile. He noticed it was our first time there so he took the time to explain the menu a bit. We ate in and he had no problem bringing out food to us (which is not an expectation since it isn’t that kind of a restaurant). While we ate we heard the same guy and the cook (I presume) laughing and what it appeared to have a good time all while getting work done and constantly cleaning up. I actually really enjoy that the staff there are happy to be there and hearing the laughter uplifted the place for me. There was a few footprints at the doorway from the snowy outdoors and he mopped it right up without hesitation. Booth seating was super comfy! Bathroom was clean but you do need to ask for them to open it up for you as it stays locked. The place was overall clean.
As for food, I personally chose to try the chicken shawarma. Very cool presentation on a big platter/cooking sheet. The size was perfect and matches the price. I didn’t feel that disgusting feeling of fullness afterwards so that’s why I say the portion was the prefect size. If the chicken was a tad bit less salty it would have been really good. I just found with the pickled vegetable and the salty chicken it was a bit too salty for me. Otherwise the veggies were crispy, the pita bread was warm, and the overall flavor wasn’t bad. Fries were really good flavor. Nice and crisp. Not too greasy. The guy at the front brought out ketchup without even being asked— always appreciate this. The Mozzarella sticks had a good cheese stretch that we all appreciate. My significant other had a burger. He said the patty had a middle eastern spice and he wasn’t the biggest fan of but he still finished his meal so it must have not been that horrible.
So overall the services was very good. Food options were a bit of a surprised because they seemed to have a Middle Eastern influence. I like the name of the place, very clever. And for the young man that served us, never lose your light because I feel like you bring happiness to anyone that...
Read moreI was craving a burger, I saw the sign out front, burger, fries and a pop for $9.99. So I thought, why not? Inside the was one customer sitting down eating and the music was cranked super loud! When I got to the til, the volume was turned down. I placed my order. After paying, he walked to the fountain pop and asked which flavor I wanted. (It was a small plastic see thru cup!) I looked at the cans in the cooler and was disappointed. I saw the flavors and saw they had Cherry Coke. He then filled up the cup, put on a plastic lid and gave me a straw. The pop was lukewarm, flat and served with no ice. When my food was ready after 10 minutes, the cook put the bag on the back counter and rang the bell. My food sat there for 5 minutes. I finally walked to the til and the cook saw me, he rang the bell again. Nothing. After a minute, the cook rang the bell again. I laughed and said can I just gran the bag? The cook grabbed the bag and proceeded to walk around to give it to me when the cashier guy finally appeared, took the bag from the cook. He put in some napkins and ketchup packets, then stapled the top and finally gave me my food. Regarding the flat warm Cherry Coke, I thought it might be OK when I get home, only minutes away, I could pour it into a glass and save it with some ice. In the car I noticed an odd greasy smell. At a set of traffic lights, the smell was me! The Smash Burger place was smelly and heavy with greasing the air and the smell was attached to me! GROSS! 🤢 Minutes, later at home I could smell the nasty smell on me. I opened the bag and the burger was small. What, I meant was the beef patty was small and very thin. There was more ketchup and mayonnaise inside the burger than there was meat! The buns were big, yellow and soft. The buns made the beef patty look miniscule!!
I will never go to this place again. There was no pride in the products or their presentation.
Save your money and time. For $5.99 I could've gotten a cheeseburger happy meal and gotten a meatier burger, tastier fries and nice, ice cold pop that isn't flat.
*STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! 🚫

Read moreIt all started with a V8....
So, I heard good things about 'Let's Smash', and the wife was in the mood for a burger. We decided to try it out, and I'm so, so glad we did.
We were greeted by the friendly Feres, owner and proprietor. He's proud of his food, knows his products, and has his own beef for specifically making burgers. We both ordered our burgers and fries/onion rings.
Feres asked what we wanted to drink, and I picked a V8. He was incredulous. "You're getting this giant burger, and you're drinking a V8!?!". I told him I needed some veggies. "No, brother. I'm going to make you a milkshake, a Ferrero Milkshake."
Best milkshake I've had in my life. I make my own ice cream at home, I've perfected my recipe, and this was better. I love when that happens.
The onion rings were the skinny crispy kind, my personal favorite, and the fries were battered and crunchy.
The burgers were hands-down the best I've had in the city, and I've been to almost every burger joint you could think of. There's no contest. Perfectly grilled, flat smashed patties on a toasted bun, with a perfect ratio of sauces and toppings. I didn't need to add or remove anything at all, and 90% of the time I do. The burgers are filling, juicy and delicious.
Feres recommended the gyros, but there's no way we had room after that meal. I'll be updating this shortly when we try them out.
That being said, if you're hankering for a burger, and you haven't tried 'Let's Smash', it's time you do. You...
