This cafe/gift shop packs a lot into a narrow space! Every inch seems to be well thought out and utilized. When you enter, you'll find a seating area to the right where you can sit while you wait for your food (sandwiches: $13; scones: $5.50; gluten-free brownies: $4.50; bagels: $4; cookies: $4.95 each or 2 for $9.75 or 4 for $18; small cake: $16 + other treats and drinks) which is on display next to this seating area. All along the walls as you head to the back of the cafe/shop, you'll find an assortment of really fascinating items for sale: coffee, gourmet popcorn kernels, creative vases, wall decor and so much more. A staircase at the very back leads to the beautifully lit loft area (there is a gorgeous sky light!) where customers can sit for up to 90 minutes.
This place is a really nice visual surprise and I love the effort they put into designing it. My only suggestion would be that staff should be a bit gentler when addressing a customer who is exploring the items for sale and should try to engage them in conversation instead of telling them to be careful with the items or interrupting a conversation to correct them. Simply saying, "Hi! Please let me know if you have any questions about this item. I'd be happy to tell you more about it" works.
Anyway, this is a very cool cafe/gift shop, so if you are looking to treat yourself or are in need of a unique gift, check...
Read moreObjects is a cute little coffee shop downtown on Jasper Ave. My boyfriend told me about this place and I knew I'd really like it. We went in the afternoon and there were a bunch of seating options upstairs.
I ordered the Iced Lavender Honey latte and my boyfriend got the Iced Mocha. We both got our drinks with oat milk. And I ordered the Fudge Brownie. Service was pretty fast, they made our drinks quickly. I loved my latte, it was creamy, rich in flavor, and had the perfect amount of sweetness for me. It wasn't too sweet at all, and I liked the subtle lavender flowery notes with the espresso. I would definitely order that again. The Fudge Brownie was rich, decadent, and the light chocolate cream on top was such a nice contrast to the denseness of the brownie. Their other pastries looked delicious in the glass, I'd have to come back to try their pistachio croissant.
I love the concept of this place. It was so cool walking through the storefront below full of stationary, dishware, and other goods. The whole space was decorated beautifully. It was clean, the upstairs part had cool and eclectic furniture pieces, and there were nice touches of greenery above. The design choices created such a cool yet homey environment.
This is definitely a cafe I'd come back to over and over again. I have no complaints....
Read moreStopped in on a Saturday afternoon while the CariWest parade was on. The 2 Americanos we had were excellent but I decided to grab a raspberry white chocolate scone. The scone was a bit dark in spots on the exterior but the interior was doughy in spots & rather unpleasant / inedible. On departing I spoke with the person behind the counter about the scone as a FYI. I was asked "Did you have it heated?". No. Then "That's the reason it seemed doughy." Sorry but I've had lots of raspberry white chocolate scones in my days and I've made hundreds at home. This was poorly baked. The oven was too hot or the scones were too high in the oven. Bottom line: I'd come back for coffee but not for baked goods. Edmonton has far too many great bakeries for this sort of product & telling the customer that they're wrong doesn't bode well for improvement. If they said "thanks, we'll look into that", fair enough I'd give their baking another try. It's too bad as the setting is nice, the seating comfortable, and the...
