Ricky's All Day Grill - Westlawn — Restaurant in Edmonton

I was actually super excited to write this review. I've been to multiple Ricky's restaurants across the city and if I have one thing to say about the company itself is that the people that buy franchises or the management and owners of these establishments however it works are amazing people.

For this location in particular, the staff was all so friendly and welcoming. They go above and beyond.

They have currently implemented the provinces restriction exemption policy for covid. They kindly requested the proof of vaccination from each customer that entered even the regulars.

We came to this location for my son's birthday breakfast and when they brought out his breakfast they had a candle for him and they sang to him and made him feel extra special. They were all so patient with both of my boys letting them order making sure that they had crayons and coloring.

The highlight of my visit was seeing who I assume was the owner or manager who I witnessed check in on the staff. He asked them how they were, if they've received any rude comments or pushback from anyone regarding the new restrictions and/or if they needed anything. I watched as a staff member entered for the start of their shift and he welcomed them and said it was good to see them and asked how their day was. This type of management or ownership of a company knowing that the treatment of their staff is highly important to their own success, is why my family and I will be returning and recommending the restaurant to friends and family.

We love supporting businesses that support their staff. It was refreshing to see.

Took the family out for Father's day lunch. We had to wait a few minutes for the table which was not an issue at all. With hungry Littles tho we hoped to order quickly. Although it was busy it took 20 minutes for our waitress to put her finger up to us and say "I'll be right there" and for her to not return for another 10 to take our order. 2 other tables we watched be cleaned were re filled with new people and then we watched our waitress take their order and drink first. This isn't an issue I've been a server I was patient.

We finally get our orders in and in the meantime we waited.

We saw tables that showed up after us (same section for waitress) start to get their food orders.

We wait some more. Finally I see our order in the window and watch our waitress literally move our plates (whole order there) and serve yet another table that came after us.

The final straw came when my husband went to get the waitress attention and she puts her fi ger up at us again says very abruptly( I'll be right there) again she walks by us another 4 x and I finally just asked for the bill for our drinks and took my kids to McDonald's.

The server seemed overwhelmed and I get that but she was rude and put a damper on our celebration by the way she spoke to us throughout our very patient wait.

These guys make an amazing grilled cheese sandwich! (most under rated sandwich ever!) First and fore most my daughter is super picky about her grilled cheese. She asked me to find out how they make it so I can do the same at home... Kids meal covered! They also make an even better version for the adults... Love their poutine and gravy as well. They do milkshakes as well, yum, yum... They have a wide variety on their menu from soup and salad to full on meals all with a homestead taste (the kind I could never truly master🤷🏼‍♀️😂). My legal boy and girl tell me they have a wide variety of alcoholic libations (fancy word for an offered drink) to choose from as they like to try new drinks wherever we go... The staff is super amazing... Having a kind server makes everything that much better and I have always had an amazing experience here. Their hours of operation also make it one of my favorite go to spots! You never have to wonder if they are open, the answer is always yes! (With exception to after hours nightclub eaters... You still have to go to Denny's, not a bad...
