We spent over forty dollars on a single meal, the deluxe bento box, and 6 pcs prawn tempura, for pick up. upon eating the meal (5 min. drive time) we realized that the barbecue salmon was dry and turning...spit it out. the prawn tempura was soggy, the beef was overcooked, bland and drowned in sauce to accommodate, the spring roll were more dry than my lawn etc. When we called back about the meal, we were tolled that pick-up is expected to be of less quality...same price...We offered to drive the meal back for a refund, then were turned down and tolled that every location prepares their food differently, and tastes differently...(had ordered from down town 50 times prior, no issues) then we had to deal with the manager who had us repeat a simple phone number 5 times before it was received on the other end...once we received a call back from the waitress because "the manager does not speak good English" we were offered less then half the meal in return. so after wasting 1 1/2 hrs arguing with multiple staff members to get our money back, the manager could not even apologize himself...once I went back the manage was conveniently no longer around, and even the owner feels that unless you are a sit in customer you don't deserve the same service, judging from other reviews we did not expect this level of unprofessional behaviour and other than the salmon sushi, the rest was bland and terrible, and customer service via the manager was appalling... He should consider himself lucky his staff is willing to do his job for him. (sry to the girls on the floor that had to get the shitty end of that stick) never...
Read moreOne of the better Japanese restaurants in this city. It's really hard to find good sushi restaurants there's a few of them in it in Edmonton being from the coast I'm finding it really hard to find what I really enjoy but Mikado does make some really good food I have to tell you I order from them all the time there's a couple of other ones too but we have to remember we're in the village of Edmonton there's no ocean around us so nothing's going to be perfect here when it comes to seafood It's really hard to find a good sushi restaurant this one's definitely doable for me It's one of the best ones I've found in Edmonton. I really wish that some Japanese restaurants would actually offer real crab meat In BC you get real crab meat I don't know how anybody got the right to call Pollock this white artificial painted fish they paint with red paint or whatever it is red food coloring to make it look like crab and they call it crab that's not crabs so stop offering it as crab every restaurant says crab a California roll and BC has real crab meat in it sockeye salmon is very very popular in BC hardly any restaurants in Edmonton carry sockeye salmon they carry the wild fatty salmon this imitation crab should not be called crab it's not crab it's a totally different fish I don't even know what it is but it's not even got the texture of crab and that's what bugs me cuz every time I phone a restaurant I asked them before I even go to the restaurant do you have real crab no they don't so all you people out there eating fake California rolls I...
Read moreThis was my second time here. I made some reservations for a birthday dinner with my parents, and incited them to finally come out and try some Japanese food with me. We arrived at our reservation time and the table was not ready, so we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated.
After being seated, we couldn't decide on drinks because there was no drink menu. Then nobody came to take the table drink order for another 10 minutes, and when the server finally came to take the order, he left halfway through our drink order and said he would bring water, and that he would be back later.
10 more minutes later, he finally comes with the water and takes our order, including the drink order, and I ask for miso soup to come out first. Then we wait 20 more minutes pass and we don't have either or drinks or any food orders, and our server is nowhere to be seen.
I flagged down one of the other servers and told her to cancel our orders and we walked out. I couldn't find another Japanese place nearby that was open, so I canceled the plans and took my family home.
Pretty much the entire staff saw what was going on and it still took me a while to flag anyone down. While walking out, I noticed our server was in one of the special rental rooms and ignoring all the tables in the main restaurant.
This was just an awful experience overall. I've eaten at Mikado since it opened downtown and in South Common, but I'm never...
