The Bower — Restaurant in Edmonton

Absolutely disappointed by the owner/DJ, Blair Junior. If you go to The Bower, be aware that Blair might think it’s totally fine and legal to take your phone away from you if you “disrespect him” by requesting a song while he is DJ’ing. My friend had the unfortunate incident of having her phone taken away by Blair because she requested him to play a song. She in no way tried to be rude whatsoever. She was having a wonderful time and really wanted to hear a specific song. He could have politely declined to this request. Blair is completely disrespectful, unprofessional, and entitled. He refused to give her phone back “until the end of the night,” and then proceeded to keep it anyways “until tomorrow” because my friend got upset. I think it’s completely reasonable to get upset over having your phone taken away. Especially when you need to get home by Uber. Even the security guys thought this was a completely normal occurrence and acted as if my friend was in the wrong for being upset. Sine when is taking people’s property considered normal? Learn some maturity and respect instead of trying to take young girls’ phones because you feel “disrespected.” Absolutely shocking behaviour. As a newcomer to Canada looking for a good place to hangout, I stumbled upon The Bower online and I decided to go there. On getting there, I went to a table, sat down and was expecting someone to attend to my request but no one seemed to bother for almost 30mins till I was forced to call out to them.

Few minutes later, one of the ladies in there brought a Tag bearing "Reserved" to my table and dropped it without even acknowledging the presence of a being already in that space.

Afterwards, a very cocky and arrogant man came to tell me that I'd be asked to leave once those that reserved the seats came by; I explained to him that the space I sat was the only seat without a reserve tag when I arrived and that I was already there before a lady put it there; his response in his words to me, ' It doesn't matter, once they come, you will be asked to leave'.

I felt humiliated as I was spoken to like garbage all because I came to hangout with myself and calm my head..

This is the worst experience I have ever experienced in my 30yrs+ existence on earth. I came with my money to spend and I get this level of insult?...

Booked reservations via email, response was super prompt. Arrived and found free parking nearby. We were seated quickly at a small table for two. Good starting position. We ordered cocktails, an old fashioned and chameleon rum drink, they were perfect. So we also ordered the olives and tomato crostini, a perfect lil snack, and the basil was fresh. Our hostess was absolutely fantastic and got us a booth which was facing the dance floor. Where the DJ was spinning it up with a wide array of music. So we could hit the dance floor at any moment, then settle back in for a refreshment. The bartender was on point and by about 2330 the place was packing up. The atmosphere is unreal, the various seating areas are one of the best parts about it. I will go back on a single date, or a group of friends. The price matches what you get out of the experience. Worth every penn... nickel. It's only open a couple nights a week. And that works for me. So make an excuse and go if you haven't, and let me know how the grilled...
