ACE Coffee Roasters - Garneau — Restaurant in Greater Strathcona

I was sitting at ACE Coffee Roasters Garneau location today doing some schoolwork when one of the servers came up to me and asked, “Are you hoping to order something?” I quickly responded, “No.” Then he followed up with, “Have you ordered anything?” I said, “Yes.” He then asked, “What time?” Obviously, I didn’t remember. His response was, “Oh okay, if you say so…”

I was caught off guard and felt disrespected. I’m not a “regular,” but I do come here quite often to study, and I have never been asked this or received such a snarky comment. Very disrespectful, sir.

What made it worse was that he didn’t ask any of the other customers who were here before me. Why single me out? It was very disappointing and frustrating. To back up what I said, I even showed him my transaction history. I didn’t have to, but I pulled it up and showed proof that I had purchased food (a prosciutto sandwich and a bomboloni donut). His only response was, “Oh sorry about that,” which felt very disingenuous.

Yes, you should be sorry.

The server did apologize and even offered me a free coffee, I declined, as I had already had a quad espresso earlier, but the gesture didn’t change how the situation felt.

As much as I like this place coffee and the food, this experience was truly a deal breaker and disappointing.

Had the worst experience, won’t be returning. It’s 30 degrees outside and I’m meeting my friend at this cafe, I brought a raw salmon poke bowl with me because I don’t like sandwiches and that’s all they serve.

I bought two donuts and two coffees, sit down and the barista tells me I can’t bring outside food, I can’t just leave my raw salmon sitting for an hour so now I have to take my friend and her kids somewhere else just so I can eat, and I’ll probably have to buy new drinks to sit in a new cafe out of the heat. Can’t believe I had to argue to get a refund for drinks I didn’t touch. It’s a cafe not a sit down restaurant, stop with the pretentiousness

Oh and the space is not accessible for people with wheelchairs, they have these giant horrible log seats that you can’t move out of the way, so if you’re disabled don’t plan on...

Wow. I have loved visiting Ace Coffee in the Whyte Ave area and was completely delighted to find out about this Garneau location. It is so cute - as to be expected. The staff is engaged and delightful - true tens!

I came with an appetite last Saturday morning and had heard amazing things about their breakfast bagel sandwich. Sadly they were all out of their bagels - AND I AM SO GLAD! I decided to go with the OG breakfast sandwich, as Ace designed it to be 😍. It comes on a croissant!!!! I am not sure I will ever be able to trust the person that recommended exchanging a croissant for a bagel!

The sandwich was INCREDIBLE. The croissant was perfect, fresh veggies, avocado and that sauce...yum. (Bad photo, Great sandwich) Yep, I will be returning as my Saturdays deserves that breakfast sandwich over and...
