In a culinary landscape teeming with fleeting trends and flash-in-the-pan eateries, this establishment stands out as one to watch. Despite being in its soft opening phase and not yet fully operational, the restaurant already offers a culinary experience that is both sophisticated and deeply satisfying.
The focaccia and hummus dish is a testament to the kitchen's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. The bread, made in-house, is a marvel of bakery skills—airy, fluffy, and possessing the perfect chew, toasted to a golden hue. The hummus it accompanies is equally well-executed, making for a harmonious pairing.
The Japanese poutine is a delightful surprise, subverting expectations with baby potatoes instead of traditional fries. While it leans more towards a Japanese curry dish, it retains enough elements of a poutine to make the fusion not just clever but delicious. The citrus-spiced green beans are a revelation in their own right—meaty and robust, they offer a textural contrast that complements the meal.
The mango sorbet, served with a spiced jam, is a masterclass in balance. Neither element overpowers the other; instead, they work in tandem to create a dessert that is both refreshing and complex.
Service is attentive without being intrusive, a fine line that the staff navigates with aplomb. Guests on the upper level will find themselves well-looked-after, a testament to the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction.
The ambiance is an exercise in understated elegance—dim lighting casts a warm glow on wood accents, while mirrors and windows add depth and dimension to the space.
Even in its nascent stage, this restaurant not only meets the standard for excellent dining but elevates it, setting a new bar for what contemporary, casual...
Read moreCute little place with a cozy atmosphere. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we went, which was good as when I had been in to the previous restaurant in this space, it was busy and quite loud. Hands down the best thing I tasted at Little Wolf was the hummus and focaccia bread. Unreasonably good. I could get fat off that bread as I would not stop eating it if they kept serving it. Also the hummus was smooth and flavourful, I made sure that bowl was clean before it went back to the kitchen. For mains, I'm not usually much for lamb as it can be easy for it to be a bit too tough and chewy for me but they nailed the meatballs and my mom loved the sauce. The black cod belly was so creamy and buttery I was tempted to steal the whole dish from my partner but refrained as I am quite fond of him and would like him to also enjoy the good things in life. I had the vegetable lasagna as it had been a busy weekend for food for me (birthday weekend) and I felt I needed some more vegetables in my life and we were already ordering a good assortment on mains. It was pretty good though in comparison to the downright unfair amount of delicious that was in the other dishes, it sort of paled in comparison. The cocktails were all great, creative and well put together. The staff were also great, seemed like they really liked working there. I will always recommend this place, if only to keep going back for the hummus, bread and cod belly. I could eat that every damn time and be...
Read moreThe atmosphere is very cute and cozy, and it’s possible that I misunderstood what to expect from this restaurant. I went on a Monday because a friend told me there was a vegan three course meal for $50/person. What I misunderstood was that this actually just meant three sharing plates, rather than three courses per person. I went with a group of three, and there was one appetizer, one main, and one dessert brought to the table (and the portion sizes looked the same for groups of 2 people). From this I understand that the restaurant makes an extra $50 on our table without having to provide additional food (though the dessert did at least have three pears on it, one for each of us). The food was just okay, but my main complaint would be the price, given the portion sizes and ingredients. If you’re vegan, there’s no need to go here, as you can definitely make something better and cheaper at home out of chickpeas, lentils, and sweet potatoes. These three ingredients are extremely affordable, so the markup for the restaurant seemed outlandishly high (especially since we did not each get our own meal but rather got 1/3 of a meal and left hungry). The cocktails were also pricey, and they were just okay. Places like Fu’s and Dolly’s serve more flavourful and creative options for a few dollars cheaper. I might try this place again and order vegan items from their regular menu, but the fixed price menu was unfortunately not...
