This place used to be IT dog which serves almost the same kind of food. Decided to check it out to see if they are still serving the same delicious fried chicken that I used to have.
Verdict: it tasted the same as before and it was awesome! There are lots of big franchise Korean fried chicken in Edmonton but I have always found it not as authentic as Mukja K-street food. I suppose a lot of people are drawn to the fancy design and modern aesthetic of those restaurant (i.e. Seoul fried chicken). Mukja’s fried chicken is hands down the BEST fried chicken that I had in Edmonton and will continue to come back. Please give this small little gem that is tucked away in a corner a shot. I ASSUME this is a family owned business and they need to get more customers to ensure that they stay around. Don’t let the aesthetic of the shop turn you away!
Services is ok, they forgot my order and I waited 45 minutes to get my food. The service recovery is good and the middle age lady was so sweet and apologetic about it. I was in no rush so it didn’t matter to me. All it matters that the food tasted great! :)
The two younger server however wasn’t as friendly as one could be, but again for me, the quality and taste of the food will always be a priority and they delivered. I wish tables were cleaned after every customer. I have to agree with a lot of other reviewers that the services and atmosphere need some urgent revamped.
Suggestions: perhaps order free self service water. Clean the bathroom cause it does have a foul smell. Not have the garbage right beside the counter where customer collects their food. Clean the table after every customer. Offer a small bin or tray or some sort of containers for customer to discard the chicken bones.
I have never tried their hotdogs before, not even when it was IT dog and a lot of bad reviews are directed towards the hotdogs. But again the fried chicken is to die for.
P.S. get the soy garlic fried chicken, you...
Read moreGot the bacon mac and cheese dog combo. The dog was really bland - cheap bun and a soggy weiner, and the "mac and cheese" was basically just cooked macaroni noodles with a tablespoon of parmesan sprinkled on top and put on s spoonful of something that resembled cheese wiz without the cheese. The bacon reminded me of those imitation bacon bits we used to buy in the 90's - chewy and artificial.
The piece of fried chicken was pretty good though. Soy garlic. Super super hot - even after walking a couple blocks to get home before eating it.
The fries reminded me of costco fries - deep fried and greasy. They would have been perfect except they were a little bit chewier than I had hoped which makes me think they weren't very fresh.
Drink options included Bubly which I'm happy about.
I'm planning to try this out again as I live close by and its priced decently. Perhaps one of the other dogs will change my opinion. Other reviewers have good things to say about the bulgogi options so may try that. Will update when I'm there next.
UPDATE: returned. Downgraded from 2 stars to 1 star as a result.
I was with a family member who has crohnes and colitis. He ordered a gluten free hot dog but was served a regular bun. This could have been VERY BAD and the staff didn't offer any sort of apology or replacement. The food wasn't any better than the first time I went. I hear they have since rebanded but its the...
Read morefood is 2 stars but staffs deserve 0 Chickens all burnt and dry these days, used to be juicy crispy and good looking. Walked there all the way from my apartment yesterday(03/16 Saturday). I arrived there at 2:40. I saw one table of customers finishing their food. The cashier guy said to me “Sorry we are closed, we sold out everything”. If you didn’t say the last sentence, instead just say you are lazy you want to close early that’s fine by me and I for sure won’t write this. “SOLD OUT EVERYTHING” is probably the biggest lie I have ever heard from a restaurant. I can clearly see that you have cleaned up everything before your actual closing time and you don’t want to clean again. I don’t know if that dude is the owner or just a worker but either way that is not how you do business. This is not the first time this happened. I strongly recommend you guys to change your business hour to 2am or whatever time you want to go home. Otherwise, make sure you are still open and running during your business hours so that you don’t waste other people’s time. There used to be some really kind workers who worked here but now most of the time it’s just some expressionless dudes. Last but not least, fix the only good food you have, FRIED THE CHICKEN RIGHT PLEASE. I will rather just go to SFC from now on even though it’s...
