PG Cafe and Grill — Restaurant in Halifax

I was very excited to try this place after reading all the positive reviews. However, I must say that I was a little let down. Inside isn't anything fancy in terms of decor. It's similar to a fast food joint- you order at the counter and bring food back to your table and pay when you leave.

Coffee is self serve. Java Blend I believe? It was delicious! Food took about 5 minutes. I ordered a bagel breakfast sandwich meal. Honestly, it was pretty lack lustre. The bagel was tough and under-toasted making it difficult the eat. I hate to criticize the bagels too, because a previous Yelp review on this business indicates they get their bagels from a local supplier- which I love to support! Home fries were not served with my sandwich. I was told I had to request them, despite my pointing to the menu item precisely indicating meal. When I did receive home fries they tasted like they had been sprinkled with sand. Quite bizarre.

With the exception of the weird ordering experience service was satisfactory. Mid-meal when I went to the cash to grab and orange juice, it took some time before I could grab someone's attention.

Lastly, after leaving, our party of 6 noticed that the bills were not reflective of the prices on the menu. They were slightly more expensive. Still cheap and reasonably priced, but odd.

Overall, the space could use a "spruce-up." Food could be improved on a few fronts. Perhaps there could be a third staff member on, the menu prices need to be adjusted (that just doesn't seem like affair business practise). However prices were so reasonable and that is what garnered so many stars for my review.

I got the crispy chicken wrap which was wrapped with a pita bread rather than a flour tortilla—just an observation, I didn’t mind at all. It was pretty good and a decent portion, especially considering the price. I also had this light fluffy cake which was a nice treat after having the sandwich.

The service was very quick and direct. To be fair, I was the only one there at this time but I appreciate this kind of service nonetheless.

The place looks quite rough so it could use a facelift but things are functional and comfortable enough.

Cheap and tasty hole in the wall restaurant. Went midday in the middle of the week and the place was empty besides us. The restaurant appears a bit weird and untidy but the food and prices completely make up for it. My friend and I each got two meals and our total came out to $40 CAD.
