Tawa Grill, nestled in the heart of Halifax’s bustling waterfront area, is a gem that consistently delivers on flavor and experience. Located amidst the busy streets, it offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for both casual outings and special occasions.
What truly stands out at Tawa Grill is the consistency in the quality of the food. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning customer, you can expect the same delicious flavors each time. Their Chicken Tandoori is by far the highlight of the menu. It’s a crowd favorite, and once you try it, you’ll understand why. Tender, perfectly spiced, and grilled to perfection, it captures the essence of traditional Indian cuisine. Along with this, the restaurant offers a wide array of dishes that showcase the richness of Indian flavors, but the Chicken Tandoori is a must-try for any first-timer.
If you’re looking for something refreshing to accompany your meal, the Mango Lassi is a fantastic choice. It’s the perfect balance of sweetness and tang, making it an excellent way to cool down after indulging in the bold spices of the meal.
What makes Tawa Grill even more appealing is its affordability. Despite being in such a prime location, the prices are reasonable, making it accessible to everyone. For anyone visiting Halifax or a local looking to explore new flavors, Tawa Grill should be at the top...
Read moreTawa is a Nepalese Indian restaurant with an extensive menu of Indian and Hakka specialities. And since it’s located in Halifax, many traditional dishes include seafood such as the chili fish ($16.50). Flakey tender pieces of cod were tossed in a sauce that had just enough heat to salivate the tongue without scorching. Arriving piping hot, the fragrant ginger, garlic, green onions, bell pepper, and chilis combine into a wonderful sauce covering the still crispy fish. You’ll need an order of plain basmati rice ($5) to balance off the dish’s saltiness.
For diners who love saucy dishes, the creamy tomato-based curry in the kaida chicken ($16.50) is lovely for slathering on rice or dipping naan into. Of all the dishes, it held the least heat but still incorporated enough spices for flavour. There were generous chunks of chicken steeped in the gravy, but I would have liked dark meat better as the chicken breast was a little tough.
Tawa’s shrimp biryani ($17.99) was huge and while the shrimp were overcooked the rice was moist and flavourful. I couldn’t get enough of the dish and had bowl after bowl despite being stuffed.
You will not leave hungry. Even their naan ($3; two orders in picture) was sizeable and seemed like it was coming from a never-ending basket. Do yourself a favour and start with one then add...
Read moreProbably many ppl have faced the same situation but I will explain because it’s gonna help people decide whether or not they would feel comfortable hosting a meal here with the kind of service provided. Food was good but they really need to change the service as it was so unprofessional ,unwelcoming and rude. To be clear, i had booked a reservation in advance for my event. Our service started with us being scolded for being early and then directly told to make sure the event was finished up quickly as the store had a closing time before we even sat down. We left without eating any sweets at the end of our meal because when we attempted to order some, our server rolled her eyes and complained. “Hospitality” was very aggressive continually telling us to hurry up and order. The server would not let us keep a menu in case we wanted to order more dishes. All 15 of my guests enjoyed the food but were soo uncomfortable they suggested to not return unless doing a small takeout or something. What a shame. For a $300 meal that lasted less than an hour, we would have at least expected enough plates or at least a friendly face from our server. I would have paid even more for more plates but i guess this establishment doesn’t care much for money. I did pay a tip though because the kitchen staff didn’t...
