So it pains me to write this review as the Black Sheep has always been a favourite of ours - but this morning's experience was just not it. The food was good but the service we received left us leaving the restaurant shaking our heads.
Maybe everyone was just having an off morning - nevertheless, it was a strange experience.
I will say I had the Bimbambop with the beef and...
Read moreOh, dearest patrons of the culinary arts, gather 'round as I regale you with an account so delectable that it shall linger upon your tongues like the finest vintage port! Nestled within the quaint confines of this establishment, I partook of a most extraordinary repast— a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich, resplendent upon a foundation of sourdough bread, which, I dare say, was the very embodiment of ambrosial delight.
The sandwich, adorned with the earthy richness of mushrooms, was a veritable symphony of flavors that danced upon my palate with the grace of a minuet. Accompanied by a signature tomato soup, a potion so velvety and reassuring that it could chase away the dreariest of Atlantic mists, it was a culinary embrace that warmed my heart and soul.
And let us not overlook the pièce de résistance—a cup of Earl Grey tea, steeped to perfection, its fragrant notes wafting through the air like a gentle breeze through a blooming garden.
But, dear friends, what truly elevated this experience was the presence of the enchanting server, Capri. Her kindness and insight were akin to the light of a thousand candles flickering in the twilight, infusing our gathering with warmth and hospitality. She made us feel as though we were the most esteemed guests in all of Halifax.
In the grand tapestry of my leisurely days, this gourmet sandwich has become my staple breakfast, a treat I eagerly anticipate on my days of repose. If you seek a haven of culinary excellence, look no further! I implore you to partake in this delightful rendezvous—your taste buds shall thank you, and your...

My husband and I had Black Sheep as #1 on our “must try” list for this trip after my best friend highly recommended it and said her and her friends went 3 times in their short time to Halifax when they were visiting because it was apparently so good. Well, it turns out they meant the brunch was amazing and unfortunately my husband and I came for dinner. After having such high expectations, we were quite disappointed. There wasn’t a huge variety on the menu and the prices are quite high for what you get. This was our most expensive meal on our trip and the least enjoyable. The cocktail I had was very refreshing in the heat wave, so I enjoyed that (although it was mostly ice), but the food was just average. I had the lobster ravioli which was very unique and as pictured, it looked very well-presented and I loved that the ravioli shells were handmade, but for the price we paid, we wish it came with a little bit more than just 6 raviolis. I was not even close to being full after eating the ravioli. My husband ordered the soft shell crab and shrimp and he was not a big fan at all. The seafood itself was pretty good, but deep frying the crab with the shell on made it difficult to eat (especially in the dark), and the grits and greens (bok choy) were completely flavourless and lacked salt. Unfortunately, based on this experience and the prices/portions, we will not be coming back, not even to...
