Tried here twice in July 2018 on a Friday and a Monday for lunch with a friend, and we were the first two customers of the day at about 11:45 both visits. In the hour there both days, I think only two other tables filled up, out of seating for probably 50 or 60 I would guess? There are also tables outside, but it was too hot for us. Really nice, nautical atmosphere with a modern/not cheesy style, lights strung from the ceiling, a gold mermaid on the ceiling as well, wooden walls with artwork, large bar, some oysters on ice with descriptions so you can see the variety, lots of natural lighting, beige paper on the tables to protect the tablecloths. Driving by at night, it looks very cozy and romantic, and I imagine the place fills up a bit more. I first tried the Chilled Canner Lobster (half for $18) that comes on a large bed of ice with lemon tarragon aioli and side Caesar. Nice presentation, good lobster and very delicious salad. My second visit I got the Lobster Sandwich ($24 ginger scallion aioli, tomato, cucumber, celery, smoked cheddar spread, butter toasted bun, lattice fries) and was very impressed. The sandwich itself was large, so fresh, crispy and flavorful that I would love again right now as I type this. My friend first had the Fish & Chips ($17 for two pc, house spice blend, lattice fries, house tartar). The batter is a panko style and he said it was very good. Not too large in size, but adequate. The 2nd time he got the Butcher's Burger ($18 in house ground beef patty, smoked cheddar, shuck slaw, apple wood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, candied onion & garlic aioli, lattice fries). He said he had a uniquely sweet flavor and was very good as well, juicy, large portion but not too messy to eat, as larger burgers often are. For dessert, we weren't sure whether to order anything, glanced at the menu, and nothing jumped out, but we went for it anyway. My Key Lime Tart ($9 marshmallow, seasonal coulis) was excellent. The graham cracker crust was moist and bursting with flavor, the little marshmallow dollops were cute and tasty, and dipped in the raspberry sauce was a nice touch. His Mousse ($9 peanut butter mousse, cookie base, chocolate ganache, honey roasted cashew) was also excellent. The mousse itself is served as a round bomb, soft enough to eat with a fork without making a mess, with berries in a caramel sauce on the side it seemed. Service was the same friendly waitress both visits. Food did not take long. I definitely will be back here to try more, despite the fact that I am not an oyster fan. lol
3rd visit: a hot, sunny Sunday evening in late July 2019. Took an outdoor table this time and it was perfect. The place was pretty busy with most tables taken. Friendly service. We split the Surf & Turf Tartare to start ($17 lobster, beef tenderloin, lemon taragon aioli, capers, shallots). It was my first time having tartare anything, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but found it very good. My friend is a seasoned "tartare-er" and found it delicious as well, and big enough portion where we each got a few good bites, atop the slices of baguette that it came with, drizzled with balsamic. For my meal, I ended up selected two sides instead of an entree, because I find smaller dishes more enjoyable. The Double Stuffed Baker ($8 local smoked bacon, goat & cheddar, sour cream, garlic & chives) was excellent, very creamy. The Roasted Corn ($8 crab, panko, cilantro, pickled shallot, garlic aioli) was great as well. Together these are very filling. ...

We have been on a ten day Atlantic Province tour, so, seafood aplenty.
This spot is upscale, has great atmosphere and is more creative with how they plate and prepare seafood.
And pretty good value considering their full 1.5pound Lobster was cheaper than a very casual seafood shack we were at in PEI the day before.
I had the seafood bucket with Lobster, clams, mussels, sausage, potatoes - the portion of shellfish could have been more generous but the flavour more than made up for that.
Partner had the Lobster and loved it.
Most importantly a place called “Shuck” had better do Oysters well - and they DO IT RIGHT. Several times this trip I was disappointed at how a place plated their Oysters allowing the all-important brine to spill out. This place has a perfect plate on ice (see my pictures) and the waiters are well schooled as shellfish-sommeliers.
Great place to celebrate or have a romantic dinner. Most seafood spots are geared towards groups, tourists and can be a little hokey. This place is charming, creative,...
Read moreWent to Shuck for the first time last week. My friend called an hour before to make reservations, and specifically asked for a table outdoors, and was informed that we didn't need a reservation as many tables were available. Once we arrived all the tables were taken (no biggie) and we were sat inside. We asked if a table became available outside if we could move tables, but never heard anymore from it the entire visit. The Oysters were good as expected, however the Calamari we ordered was definitely frozen out of a bag and deep-fried, and the presentation looked like someone spilled tartar all over the sides of the plate lol. We also had an order of the mussels which were pretty disappointing, the broth was good, however the size of the mussels were pretty sad, as I could've gotten larger ones if I went to the grocery store myself. We had hoped for "higher quality" for the price we were paying. The restaurant probably gets more tourists than locals and honestly, NOT the best seafood bar in town and definitely not...
