Ajio Sushi
Wow!
How did I miss this gem???
So my cousin Susan Bullock said we had to go to her favorite Japanese restaurant tonight. And you know me....What, you want me to go with you to one of your favorite spots to eat in Hamilton....Nah I'll pass.....bahahaha, we were there in like 10 minutes.....Would have been quicker....but you know parking and all...
So it's this little place west of Mary St on King St. Been there for years. And I haven't been there once. Let me tell you that's going to change.
Susan had one of there many different bento boxes. The choices are almost endless. I had a specialty spicy chicken bowl with cheese. We both shared an appetizer.
Susan's bento box was loaded with salmon. The picture doesn't do it justice. She took half of the bento box home. My spicy chicken bowl was deep and loaded. For me, not overly hot to begin with but the spicy did grow on me and I loved it!!!! Both came with rice pudding and salad. There was also miso soup, kimchi, some kind of fish salad plus our drinks.
The total price was 56 bucks! That's insanity! I took half my meal home and it made a complete dinner for someone at home. That was beyond reasonable for the over the top quality of the food and amount.
Then there was the service. Wonderful service, wonderful people. Place was jammed at 5pm on a Saturday. We got the last booth. Take out was going crazy too. The server must have came to our table no less than 7 times to see how things were going.
This place is the bomb! Really knocked it out of the park. What an absolutely fantastic overall experience. While I have a lot of favorite spots in Hamilton. Truly this one is now up there with some of the greats! You folks know who you are wink, wink!
How fortunate are we to have this many fantastic eating places in Hamilton. On my list, I just added one more. If you like traditional Korean /Japanese food, Sushi or just tasty food in general. This spot is a must try in my opinion. Don't wait! Go now! Or maybe tomorrow....but go!
Way to go, Ajio Sushi Korean & Japanese Restaurant. We will be back! I'm bringing more family next time! Going to need a bigger...

It was just very uncomfortable today as it was very hot and humid and they didn't turn on the air conditioning until we were all about to leave. It was pretty busy on our visit today but I feel like, service is slow and sub-par. I ordered the pork bone soup and seafood pancake. The pork bone soup was alright but the seafood pancake was more like an onion pancake. There was about 2 squid pieces and 2 shrimps and it was mostly spring onions - definitely not worth $13.99 at all. The servers were polite, but it just took them such a long time to take our order (like usual) and strange enough, and no refills or check in to see how we were doing. On top of that, my friends and I had to split the complimentary apps. They also ran out of ice and once again overcharged us on our bill, despite the fact that we always pay in cash and they've claimed they've given us 5% off. It's just unacceptable that every time I calculated and confront them, I always get a lower amount. The excuse I sometimes get is, "oh we forgot to change the price of this item", "oh it''s actually extra to get more...

We opted for dine in and was asked for our vaccination paper, after that we were seated and told us to use the QR code to look at the menu.
After the order what we got wasthe udon nabe with tempura on the side, bulgolgi roll and bento #4 which had unagi on rice, California roll, glass noodles and salmon sashimi.
Udon nabe with tempura on the side was delicious, the broth was light, mellow and savory. The noodles were nicely firm and bouncy when you chew on them, and the tempuras was icing on the cake. Recommend getting this I'd you're there.
Bulgolgi roll was alright, nothing to crazy. There was more rice then the meat and the meat was kinda dry with little sauce.
Bento #4 came with a lot of things. The unagi on rice was good with lots of sauce, the glass noodle was a small portion and the taste was not bad, the California roll was standard, and salmon sashimi which they were generous with the portion and slice size.
Hope this help you when you're...
