After passing by Goldies Fast Food a few times on our visits downtown Hamilton, my girlfriend and I finally decided to check it out and we’re so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuinely friendly service. Right away, the energy of the place stood out, it’s relaxed but upbeat, and you can tell the people behind the counter actually care about what they’re serving. That’s rare to find these days.
I went with the All-American Burger (Double)—a smash-style burger stacked with chili, melted cheese, and diced onions. Let me just say: this thing was fantastic. The patties were perfectly crispy on the edges and juicy in the center, and the chili added that rich, hearty punch without overpowering the flavor of the beef. Everything was well-balanced, not messy for the sake of being messy, but truly crafted with care.
Alongside it, I ordered the regular size chili fries, and they did not disappoint. Piled high, well-seasoned, and drenched in savory chili and cheese, they were the perfect complement to the burger. It’s comfort food through and through, but you can taste the quality in every bite.
My girlfriend ordered the Gold Standard Burger (Single)—a smash patty topped with cheese, crispy bacon, pickles, caramelized onions, and their signature Gold Sauce. I tried a bite and completely understood the hype she was giving it. That Gold Sauce is a game-changer, tangy, a little sweet, and incredibly flavorful. It tied the whole burger together beautifully, without masking any of the core ingredients. Just a really well-executed burger.
But the true MVP of the night? The large Ranch Fries.
These were next-level: topped with bacon, creamy ranch, All Dressed seasoning, and instead of the standard green onion, she swapped in caramelized onions—a change that took them from great to absolutely unforgettable. The mix of savory, salty, and sweet was perfect. We both agreed without hesitation that these were our favorite item of the meal and possibly the best fries we’ve had in recent memory. We literally looked at each other and said, “We’d come downtown just for these again.” And we meant it.
Everything we ordered felt like it had been made with genuine attention to detail, which is rare for fast casual food these days. The flavors were bold but not overwhelming, the portions were generous, and the prices were more than fair for what you get.
And again, I can’t stress enough how welcoming the staff were. Friendly, upbeat, and incredibly accommodating. You really get the sense that this is a business built on passion and pride.
Goldies Fast Food deserves a ton of credit for what they’re doing. This is the kind of place that should have a line out the door every single day. Whether you’re craving a killer burger, loaded fries, or just want to support a place that genuinely gets it right—Goldies is worth the trip.

Read moreGood but overrated in my opinion. For starters, they have weird hours and are barely ever open. I was on my way to my normal lunch spot when I saw this place was open for a change! Place is very clean but quite small so not comfortable to sit down with your meal. The staff were very friendly. Menu was simple but unique. Some different dietary options they seem to be conscious of which is nice. Very expensive. A burger, loaded fries and drink was $23 (normally wouldn’t order this much but I figured I would go all out since it was my first time trying it) even with the combo price I find this crazy. It’s one of those places where the machine strongly suggests you tip, which I did. Not that the guys didn’t deserve it, they were very friendly and working hard, but on top of a $23 fast food lunch it was too much. I got the Gold Standard burger, good but again overhyped. It was fresh, good ingredients, but the patty was flattened out to where it was twice the size of the bun, which I assume is a cool style thing they do but it was very messy and hard to eat. I also didn’t like how the edge of the burger was extremely crispy and charred. I got the “ranch fries” as the side because other reviewers said they were amazing. They were just frozen crinkle cuts with some ranch and green onions sprinkled on them. Not worth the extra $7 or whatever it was they charged me. My soda tasted bad, very syrupy but don’t judge a place based on fountain drinks as that could have been anything. If I can catch them again sometime, I’d go back to try the chicken which...
Read moreThe meat is delicious. Nice smash burger. I could eat 3 and still want more. Not because it isn't filling, the flavouring is on point. Those crispy bits on the edge. The fries were nice, crispy and fresh. Love that fountain pop too. Service is fast and efficient. The 3 guys do it all! Cook, clean, and serve. October 25: new experience review. Did not eat due to technical difficulties. You all know the food is fire though... This is about customer service. 1/5.. and they only get a 1 for quick response time.. even if it was to just point the blame to me. To keep it short this business needs a serious reality check when it comes to customer service. Owner Joel does not respond to constructive criticism or feedback well. This has discouraged me as well as friends from St. Joe's, the Y and Jackson Square from returning. October 26: owner Joel took the time to reach out personally this morning and make things right. Virtual Visa will not work due to the high percentage rate. I am very grateful for Joel following up because I love that hot honey chicken sandwich and the gold standard with jalepenos and I don't think I can live without.
Just an FYI this review has been edited to account for my experience. Google does not permit separate reviews for the same establishment.
