Harvey's — Restaurant in Hamilton

Harv is tops for fast food. Great fries, greater burgers, and not any bit of a waste of money.

Additional, yet likely unhelpful info: Staff sometimes inexplicably have a hard time understanding the request "everything, except hot peppers", "everything, but hot peppers", "everything, just no hot peppers" repeatedly replying "so, the works"? (Well no, because that would be everything.) I'm still not even sure how that results in 3 or 4 go rounds on that merry-go-round of fun, with some general rephrasings, and even some disagreement in ways that made no sense, so much so that I can't even recall to repeat here. But when you're hungry any obstacle can get irritating fast, so one that you have to consider after driving away as to how it was even an issuec and makes you wonder if it even happened at all, wasn't exactly a soothing experience. But it did happen. And to bring imagined fears to my reality, again the very next time I visited. (And I had a passenger both times, who were also equally confused and unimpressed.) Back in 1974, when I came to Canada, there was a Harvey's on Gerrard Street east in Toronto, it was half a block from my home, so I ate their regularly, the vibe was cheerful, the burgers were great, the guy even offered me a part time job peeling potatoes 😄, I didn't take it. Moving on to the present, I still love a Harvey's burger. The Barton street location, has all of the good vibes, great food and cleanliness, that that restaurant did fifty+ years ago. Tonight, we had Angus burgers, chicken sandwich, rings, fries and apple pies; all were perfect. However, the important thing about this place, is that the staff genuinely seem happy to be doing what they are doing. From my point of view as a customer, that is very gratifying, as it pays off in a good product and very happy customers. I have eaten here for what must be twenty years or more, with never a bad meal; I suggest you give this location a try. I was in the area, hungry and looking for something tasty for dinner and I was fortunate enough to spot this Harvey's! Immediately upon pulling in there was ample parking and the lot was nicely shoveled. Inside, the restaurant was immaculately clean and I was warmly greeted by all of the staff. I ended up going with an Angus burger poutine frings and whipped up an Arnold Palmer for myself at the soda machine. The food was served piping hot and absolutely delicious. The serving size was EXTREMELY generous. I actually had trouble finishing the frings poutine. They were so jammed full they could barely close the lid. For my Angus burger I had the works and added ghost pepper mayo. Don't say I didn't warn you but it is legit! It is both delicious and spicy.
