Mario's Pizza and Wings — Restaurant in Hamilton

Hi this was my first time here and I wanted to try it because of the good reviews.

We ordered a deluxe pizza which has mushrooms pepperoni green peppers bacon onions. We asked for black olives on it.

What we got was NO green peppers, and an large amount of green and black olives on it? The crust was paper thin, saugy, and barely any red sauce on the pizza. I picked up a slice and all the toppings fell off, I took a bite and it was saugy and I noticed there was no green peppers. And because I'm pregnant and green peppers were pretty important in that moment, we then decided to take the pizza back and ask for them to remake it correctly.

The guy gave my boyfriend a hard time when he asked him to remake it (and my bf asked very politely) and the guy blamed it on me and said I ordered the pizza wrong on the phone.

But my boyfriend was the one who ordered the pizza, not me, and I was beside him when he ordered it, we caught him in a lie. He just kept saying "well that's what she said on the phone" 🤷 anyway, we didn't do anything wrong and this guys attitude was negative and not wanting to fix the problem, so we just decided to keep the pizza, and try to eat it because we didn't trust this guy to remake the pizza he had a poor attitude. I couldn't believe the service we recieved especially since the reviews are so high. And we both agreed it was the worst pizza we've ever had. And I'm not just saying that because they made the pizza wrong. I have pictures to prove what the pizza looked like. Thin saugy crust, floppy, toppings just fell right off.. we will...

Stopped here on a whim while staying in Hamilton for a night on our way to Ottawa.

Service was REALLY quick. I called and ordered two large Specialty pies. I was told they would be ready in 10 min. I arrived in 8 and they were coming out of the oven already.

Allan was pleasant to deal with at the cash. Great guy, hospitable, friendly and quick.

The pies were awesome! best I've had in a while. If you order and get a chance to eat a slice as soon as you get in your car, the crust is nice and crispy on the bottom. You'll likely burn the skin off the roof of your mouth but its worth it!

Got them home in under 10 min and they were still just as delicious but not surprisingly they lost the crispiness on the bottom :(. (Seriously eat a slice or at the least take a bite while you are in your car)

Very GENEROUS toppings - the way it should always be everywhere. Their Cheese was very tasty and gooey. Not used to the cheese adding much flavour to pizzas so it was a nice surprise. Dough was perfect - just the right amount not too doughy and the sauce & toppings went close to the edge so you don't get the big dough ball on some pieces.

House garlic sauce was pretty good too (hint of vinegar in it).

Honestly, if you order from here I can't see why you would be disappointed in anything. Don't even think twice just order a couple of pies and see what the fuss is about.

Oh - eating the leftover cold pizza the next day while on a road trip was better than some chain pizzas when they are hot and "fresh".

I live in one of the apartments nearby, so this is "my" pizza place. People in my building rave about how wonderful it is, but I seriously think they are lying to themselves. The only way I can genuinely see somebody getting pizza from here is out of sheer convenience and/or desperation.

Let's start with the pizza itself. In the few times I have ordered, the pizza has had the quality akin to greasy cardboard with a significant cheap-out on the toppings. Even worse, they are overpriced compared to the other mom and pop pizzerias. If you order a large 3 topping pizza, expect to pay no less than 20 dollars to eat a bland piece of cardboard and still be hungry afterwards.

On to the customer service. They seem nice enough in person, but their hours of operation aren't as advertised (open until 11pm it says). The very last straw for me was when I ordered on a Tuesday evening at 7:45, and the guy on the phone gave me attitude because he "was ready to close". He said he would only make it for me if i could be there in 5 minutes. Sorry to inconvenience your business by being a customer, especially at a NORMAL time when most pizza places would still be open. Like i said, this was the last straw for me.

I'm not a big fan of chains like Dominos and Pizza Pizza, but i'd rather give them my business than this place. Honestly baffled at all the reviews gushing over it. Must be relatives or...
