Ordered the Taiwanese pork rice bowl and the popcorn chicken which are my usual favourites. I haven’t ordered it in a while but I was quite disappointed this time around. As for the pork rice, it had an odd sour taste to it. My mom and I had a couple of bites each before asking each other if we were just imagining it or was that actually the case. My stomach is feeling slightly upset as I’m writing this. The broccoli were 2 different shades with one being green and the other being a little yellow. I’m confused if they were cooked separately, if one piece was going bad but overall I was scared to finish the dish after that. The popcorn chicken is usually light and crunchy but as you can see in the photo, it was super oily. I don’t mind the chicken being soggy as I take that risk ordering it for delivery but I think this time it was more due to that excess in oil rather than the food itself steaming up on the drive over. For extra context I placed my Uber order around 10:45, didn’t assume I’d have to worry about last call affecting the chef’s efforts as they close at 11:30 according to their hours on Google. On the bright side, the drinks I ordered were fine. I also ordered one of the toast which was also fine, but on if the toast had issues too I’d be worried. Was one of my favourite spots during Covid, just leaving this review cuz I want em to step...
Read moreGood place for students to grab a cheap drink and buckle-in. Came here with a group of friends for a late evening hangout and was pleasantly surprised at the selection of drinks available. There is a moderate amount of seating at the TeaHut Cafe so a small party should have no trouble finding a place to sit. The service was fully done through a QR code that you can scan. You order through an online app, but you can likely also order at the cashier if you prefer to take-out or go that route. The cafe takes your order, prepares it, and brings it to your table for you signifying a low-key, decent emphasis on service.
With regards to the ambience, I would say that they definitely should redecorate as the lighting is quite moody and the aesthetic quite plain. You could probably find a brighter, more fun bubble tea place elsewhere. The drinks are extremely well-priced starting at $3.50 for a regular plus toppings or an upcharge if you upgrade to a large. The cold bubble teas are okay, nothing special, but good for the price. However, the hot tea pots are interesting and great. Our group shared one and I would definitely recommend it as it can lift your spirits; especially on a colder day.
Overall, it's a good place to be quiet, have a drink and study or have a cheap pick-me-up, but I would recommend a different location if you're going for a...
Read moreI only like one of their drinks...I've tried so many. The drinks itself, I never seem to get enough ice. Always melts so quickly even when I ask for extra...making my drink room temperature. If you want to enjoy the drinks cold, make you drink it as soon as you can. I do enjoy their popping strawberry bubbles a lot. It's one of the reasons I get some drinks. Their tapioca was SO soft that it almost felt overcooked...I wish it was a little tougher to have that nice chewy consistency too! To have the best or both worlds. I recommend Lychee Yogurty!
I hope you guys consider providing sugar options on your delivery apps because I do think your drinks are WAY too sweet. Without the sugar options listed on delivery apps, it makes it seem like their sugar are fixed (which I hope they aren't). I understand if some drinks are good with full sugar but not everyone has a sweet tooth. With sugar options, I think a lot more people could enjoy your drinks. You can write in the notes on Uber if you want less sugar, but it's nice to see what you can choose from.
I really enjoy the food here though :) I would recommend their popcorn chicken or their takoyaki balls! It's not often I see a bubble tea shop...
