The restaurant is small and just a little too tiny. It's a refurbished family home, so that makes sense. The food is decent, about as good as you would expect home-cooked Chinese food to taste. However, this is not where you want to go for quick service. The food is made for you by one person, so it takes quite a bit of time. The English on the menu is also a little shoddy, but you can get by with it if needed. They don't supply real utensils (they have tiny plastic spoons and wooden break-apart chopsticks), but drinks are self-serve (there's an open fridge) and water is free to grab as you please. The restaurant is usually filled with Chinese students from Columbia, so it's usually rowdy. The food portions are pretty decent and you can definitely get full, but it's a tad more than I would be...
Read moreCute little house restaurant. Owners are sweet and thoughtful. I ordered the dried turnip and preserved pork entree, and the owner thought it might be too spicy or "Chinese", which is considerate, in case I ordered and didn't like. I loved it though. I wish they served tea without me asking, because that's usually what happens when you visit an Asian restaurant, and I enjoy it a lot. I'm sure if I asked for it, they'd provide though. Also hoped they would have Chinese iced green tea in bottles - they have a few aloe drinks, but they were artificially flavoured, so I wasn't interested.
Overall, liked the place, would go back to support the owners and try some...
Read moreDo yourself a favour - avoid this restaurant. Where are these 5 star reviews coming from? My partner and I were craving dan dan noodles and dumplings so we thought we’d try a new spot here in Hamilton. We headed to Uber Eats and picked Wei Xiang Yuan. After a few bites, we both agreed this was, hands down, the worst food we’ve EVER eaten, not to mention the worst take out experience. We were speechless. Everything was completely inedible. The dan dan noodle “soup” tasted like a spicy Lipton noodle soup mixed with packaged ramen. I would have preferred a package of Mr. Noodles. The dumplings were absolutely horrifying. Unfortunately, the entire meal worth $100 went into the trash, along with my hopes of having decent dumplings...
