Came here on a Saturday around 5.
We were asked to go, but the hostess never mentioned that we had to go to the counter to order.
We went and asked to see if they had a menu but the answer was no. You basically order your food at the counter, they give you a number and then you get seated and they bring you the cooked fish and all when it's ready.
We got the octopus, the fried calamari and the grilled shrimp with garlic sauce.
There was also a delay on getting our plates all together. So some of the food got cold because we wanted to enjoy it all together .
My favorite was the calamari, even tho it was fried it was really light.
It seemed that they put a spice on everything, which I didn't find original. We got a side plate of potatoes and salad...it was the same spices on the potato's and the calamari, also the sauces that came with it was the same. They gut said that the salad was really good but it had no flavor. The potatoes were good but we were shocked to see at the end that they were 10$.
There's no price list. I think they should at least tell there customers how much the sides are.
The thing that I liked about this place was the calamari and the octopus and how you can choose the amount of food you want them to cook when it comes to the fish.
When it comes to service, there was absolutely no service given by the waitresses other then filling up our water when we got seated and bringing us the food. We never got asked if we wanted to drink something (soda), our water was not refilled. And also they didn't seem friendly at all.
Service is very important for me when I go somewhere so maybe next time I would order for takeout.
I had heard alot of good things about this place and I was happy when they announced a restaurant style location in Laval.
This is not a full restaurant style seating. They have no menu and like I said you need to go to the counter to order, they don't take your order...
Read moreIt was our first time, we were told to go sit at a table, we sat down and waited for about 15 mins, no one came to us so we asked and we were told that we had to go to the counter. We ordered our fish, and we sat down, once the fish arrived, it was tasteless, basically, they fried the fish and added the spice on top, I can do that at home and save $50 for both of us. No taste at all, extremely bland fish. I can go to McDonald's and get a fish sandwich that tastes much better than this and pay overpriced for 4 pieces of cod. I was not aware that wheat prices were so high that we had to pay for bread.... the first time in my life that I had to pay for bread.
Service was terrible, we had to keep on asking for items like napkins, forks, and water. The waitress asked us we if wanted to have a beverage at the of our meal.
The person who chose our fish with his ripped blue gloves, I wonder where the pieces of blue plastic went and I wonder how much of his hair from his hand went into the fish I may have digested. The cook who was wiping his forehead with his blue plastic gloves on, nothing like having his sweat on my fish. Time to call the public health department.
I would rather drive to West Island and go eat fish from this Palestinian place that makes tasty fish and much better prices than here.
If I can give a 0 rating I would for this place.
We will not come back and we will ensure we tell all of our friends not...
Read moreThis is truly an amazing gem in an unexpected area of Laval, close to the Residence Inn Laval hotel, one block away from the 15 North. It’s one of those joyous tasteful seafood experiences you will remember for a long time and if you come back to this area, you will come back to this Estakoza restaurant which serves only the freshest seafood plates grilled to perfection. You order the fish by weight at the counter and decide how you want it cooked and they perform the magic. They you wait at your table and the food is served when it’s ready. There is no wine or beer available but you won’t miss it: the focus is purely on preparing the best seafood experience you’ll have in quite some time. Also the side dishes like the fresh Mediterranean salad or the potato wedges are delicious. And don’t forget the grilled vegetables. All dishes are reasonably priced, especially given the relaxed and welcoming experience and service you get on top of it. It’s easy to understand why you order more than you need to as you want to taste it all. I recommend to simply come back more often to try all the different dishes. Of my whole week in Laval, this place stands out. If you love seafood, you won’t regret you discovered this Egyptian inspired seafood...
