Many different dishes to try. Nice atmosphere, beautiful decor, friendly staff

Update 2023:

Tataki de boeuf: my favorite dish of the evening. The sear was perfect, the beef was tender and not stinky and the sauce, despite a bit watery tasted really good.

Calmar A-doré: basically your typical salt pepper chili fried calamari but with a special mayo. It was very good, but aside from the sauce not different from your typical chinese restaurant because the fried dough would fall off as well.

Poulet bang bang: very crispy chicken and it stayed crispy throughout the entire meal. The mustard maple syrup was a great add on.

Honeydew cocktail: I'd say the best cocktail there, very sweet and easy to drink. I took 2 of them due to the thursday cocktail promotion. Otherwise, the cocktail is pricey.

Pear peach cocktail: sweet ish but the drink is fairly small and also quite strong despite that.

Mignon Lok Lak: they used filet mignon in cubes, it was pink inside so I expected it to be more tender, but it was mildy chewy. Not bad though. The sauce is thicker, sweeter. This dish was served with cucumbers on a bed of iceberg lettuce, salt lemon pepper sauce and 1 small bowl of rice. Not the easiest to share but doable. For 28$, I didn't find that the filet mignon elevated the dish. Especially when the rest of the ingredients were the basic sides. This dish is not worth trying.

Churro chinois: they changed it a bit by making their churros now instead of buying the chinese donut, as they did when they first opened. The dough is airy inside but the outside is hard to bite, so makes every thing extra chewy. The combo of flavors were still good. Not a fan of the wilted greens.

Lava cake: love the dark chocolate. The coconut added nothing to the dish because the chocolate flavor took over. The cake is smaller than my palm so between 3 people we each got 2 small bites. Wilted greens were used as decoration again...

The new menu is interesting. Some dishes were very good and worth a try, others were just overpriced (mignon lok lak, calamar, lava cake). The presentation of most dishes were pretty, but the presence of wilted greens in a few dishes were not necessary and they were just chewy. Maybe they gave us the last bits from the bottom of the box. Beautiful restaurant though and great service.

Old menu:

Jellyfish salad: Favorite dish. Very nice flavors mixed eith sesame oil and great textures and refreshing to eat.

Peking duck: Least favorite dish. Duck was practically raw, not well seasonned (so kept its stinky taste) and was chewy.

Char siu ribs: apparentally cooked for 22h. Was unfortunately not tender, meat did not come off the bone easily, had to rip it off like a regular rib. Good sauce.

Curry poutine: special item for poutine week. Very strong flavor of curry and coconut wth a hint of sweetness. Good dish to share but not to eat alone, because the curry is overwelming.

Pandan dessert: very nice, not too sweet, good pandan flavor, pretty presentation

Asian churros: well seasonned with cinnamon and sugar, freshly made so...

First time here with friends!

Service = 4/5! The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She explained the menu well for us and also helped me, a vegetarian, with the dishes I can have.

Food we ordered-

Coco Curry Hong Kong (4/5) the curry sauce with the fried tofu was delightful! The tofu was soft and spongy. It soaked in the curry really nicely. I enjoyed this dish a lot and was tempted to order a second serving of it!

VEG Poulet de Bang Bang (4.5/5) the fried cauliflower + dipping sauce combo was amazing! The batter was salty but it paired well with the maple mustard. I enjoyed these as well.

Poulet de Bang Bang(4.5/5) according to friends were tasty!

Calmars a-dores (4.5) friends enjoyed this one!

Ha Gao De Fortune (2-3.5/5) Mixed reviews with this among friends so I can’t say for sure!

Salade Papa-Yaah(4/5) i loved this salad! We asked for no shrimp so even without, it was delicious! Very refreshing and it’s so nice to have to cut the grease and creaminess of the other dishes we had! Great to “clean” the palate hehe

Nouilles de Longévité (2/5) Friends said the texture of the noodles were weird. Soft and gummy.

VEG Slurp it like Udon care (3.5/5) This dish wasn’t bad at all but it really was just cauliflower with curry udon. Maybe I already had enough of cauliflower from the other dish but it felt pretty simple. It was good and I finished it but I expected more!

Chinese Broccoli/Gai L’an with mushroom sauce (2.5/5) This item was not on the menu at the time but was suggested by the waitress. It wasn’t anything special. It didn’t taste bad but it wasn’t fantastic either. We treated it like a palate cleanser, eating it between the heavier dishes. I wouldn’t order this again.

Churro Canto (5/5)!!! It comes with 2 thick churros but shared amongst 4 people was definitely not enough. I have to suggest ordering 2 for 4 people! Honestly I feel like I can eat the whole thing myself because it’s that amazing!!

Le Pandan-tif de Jade (2/5) It was okaaaay to me. We ordered both desserts; but for me, the churros completely overshadowed this dessert. It’s very light on the sweetness. I can see some people enjoying this. Personally I’m not a fan but it’s not horrible!

Overall I ate well here!! We all did and I can see myself going back. There was one dish I didn’t get to try and it was the That’s What Cheese Said. They didn’t have it the day we went so hopefully it’ll be...

Last Saturday night, my friend invited me out to Gon Bui in Laval for the first time—and wow, the vibes were on point. The space is gorgeous, with moody lighting, stylish decor, and a live DJ setting the perfect tone to slide into the weekend.

We came to check out their new summer menu and kicked things off with some bold starters: • Fried calamari ($22) – Crispy, flavorful, and tossed with garlic, onions, and bell peppers. That sesame mayo dip? A total flavor booster. • Scallops crudo ($24) – Light, bright, and beautifully plated. The coconut-coriander sauce with green apple made each bite feel like a tropical escape. • Fried wings ($18) – Golden and crispy with a tangy tamarind-plum sauce on the side. On their own, I found them a bit under-seasoned—but that sauce definitely helped bring it together.

Then came the Coco Espresso Martini ($18)—and let me tell you, this was a moment. Made with Rhum Café Rosemont, vodka, crème de coco, and espresso, it was flambéed tableside with a crème brûlée-style topping. Bold, smooth, and a little dramatic in the best way.

For my main, I went with the soya salmon ($26)—cooked beautifully with a crispy top layer and served in a light veggie broth. The bok choy wasn’t really for me, and the white rice leaned a bit too sticky/sushi-style for my taste. But the salmon itself? So good it made up for it.

Dessert time (yes, we got two—no regrets): • Canto churros ($11) – A single soft and sweet Chinese doughnut paired with orange-blueberry jam and ube whipped cream. A fun little bite, but I wish there were more than one! • Chai latte panna cotta ($13) – Delicate and creative, with layers of orange-chocolate cream and apricot confit. This one didn’t quite hit the spot for me, but it was an interesting combo.

Gon Bui nailed the atmosphere and brought plenty of flavor. It’s a solid pick for date night, girls’ night, or anytime you want to treat yourself. I’d love to come back and try their brunch—curious to see what creative twists they bring to the...
