The first reason to go to a Restaurant is for the food. The service is secondary and the ambiance tertiary consideration. We were two and decided to try Steak Frites because the wait for a table at the Keg was 1.5 hours long.
Unfortunately the Food was not good at all and we regretted our decision. We both ordered the Rib Steak 14oz (the largest offered), Medium, one with Pepper Sauce and the other one with Dijon sauce. The rib steak cooking was very bad, tasteless, no proper searing not grilled. The steak felt like it was sitting in the freezer for a long time and placed on a cooking plaque (Plaque de Cuisson). Plus it was no juicy and was almost well done, feeling boiled inside (and why this implied it was cooked frozen).
This is deli style cooking and not worth the price which was rivaling Keg Steak prices, but the quality is Fast Food grade.
Arguably, meat tastes better in a B-12 or Harveys Hamburger than this one. Very disappointed by the food quality.
And also there are no options for changing the fries to sweet potato ones either, (which is a popular alternative now days). Albeit this doe snot factor in my grade here.
I am giving a 1 star factoring in the service and ambiance. Because if for the food, it would be no stars at all. This was the first and last time eating at Steak Frites. Go to keg or other Steakhouses if Steak is and meats is what you want. The Keg Rib Steak is 20oz and perfectly grilled and seared, juicy inside with a better assortment of side dishes all for a...
Read moreReview specifically for the Steak Frites (2125 Boulevard le Carrefour). Feedback to the owner of the restaurant: Poor communication skills and borderline aggressive. We had a family dinner 2 weeks ago, and my son who's 3 yrs. old was running around the table. None of the staff said anything and suddenly the owner of the restaurant shows up and asked us to keep my son on his chair. I am totally fine and it makes sense. But, you should've seen the way he was talking, his body language and even threatened to put us out of the restaurant! Then he turned his back and walked away, I followed him to tell him to speak properly and put his hands back. In any case, I was amazed on how such a person is running a restaurant, and good luck to the staff. No further comments.
Read moreUPDATE: I was able to get in touch with the owner who apologized and offered us a generous discount if we would go back. We accepted and enjoyed a very nice dinner last Saturday. Service was great and so was the food. Be sure to visit if you're in the area. A reservation is recommended.
The restaurant is supposed to close at 11pm. We arrived at 9:45pm on a Saturday night and were told that they closed the kitchen an hour ago. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that they all went home. Some girl named Sophie shows up to say the exact same thing. She never apologized and when I told her that I would be leaving a negative review she said ok no problem. Avoid this place. Staff and management are just the to collect a paycheck. We went next door to Torii Sushi and we were greeted and seated...
